This makes a ton of sense. So the founder was an enthusiast, and then this crook bought the company in 2022 and immediately embarked on a strategy of cheaping out the product line and marketing through outrage.

That explains the contrast between the older and newer stuff, as well as the difference in customer support I got in 2021 compared to now.

I'm wondering if this was just a money laundering front for the crook.

I’ve bought four items from Legendary and have done some reviews on their site but I’m done with them. Got off the mailing list and unfollowed them on IG. There were some behavioral red flags in the responses to paying customers during the Stallion debacle, but the immaturity and pettiness of the Schott related posts were just pathetic. I’m embarrassed that my name is on their website endorsing anything that they’re doing.

Thanks for the reveal. I didn't want to believe that the whole company I bought my first Schott from decades ago had turned to sh1t, and now I don't have to. Not sure if realistic but I hope the company gets rid of that guy, cleans up their act and gets together with Schott again.

It's a shame in which direction this company drifted away! But I have to say, I had a jacket from them produced some years ago by Schott but it was a catch and release matter, the leather was horrible, felt like plastic and unnatural.

Ha, Legendary USA is now selling a knockoff of the Schott 141/641 under the name Beck 732.

(The Beck cafe racers were a very different design.)

Beck back in the day was bought by Schott. This is NOT made by Schott, as Legendary is no longer an authorized seller of Schott jackets... probably because they went with a different company to produce the latest run of the Black Stallion.

The Beck 666 jacket didn't have a center seam down the back. Having a center seam on this jacket makes it NOT a Beck 666 pattern. And it doesn't look like they did the shoulder gussets right, either. Toys McCoy's Beck 666 reproduction is light years ahead of this, and yeah more expensive, but at least you get a good jacket for the money.

So, not a Schott-made, not a Beck, not a 666.

The leather looks cheap.

I just today got an email from Legendary USA, to make sure I didn't miss out on this one. So they also don't honor unsubscribe requests to get off of their mailing list.

The whole thing is just sad, but starting to become almost funny.
I totally agree

I would advise anyone not to patronize this company. The owner is a liar, and a little due diligence looking him up will reveal past accounts of fraud. He is a drunkard and addict who garners business by catering to other substance abusers.

Before I found this out, the jacket I inspected was heavy, but the seams didn't line up, it was thrown together, and the sizing was a joke. No resemblance or equivalency of the quality offered up when Herman ran the company. A sad loss.

I notice that the jacket photos Legendary has up on its website have changed over time. They take down the old photos and put up new ones. Generally speaking, the new photos don't look anywhere near as good. Some look like completely different jackets now!

I guess I was fortunate to get three jackets from them when they started doing their BECK promotion in 2024. The latest jacket I got was in early this year. I am happy with all three (777, 501 trucker, and 999). They are really nice, look good, feel good, and are well made. (Correction: it was the 501 Trucker, not 737)

Some time after I got my jackets, I started noticing the photos on their website have all changed. So apparently, they changed leather suppliers or jacket manufacturers and the same model jacket looks different now, as opposed to when it first came out. (Their website now specifies that they get their jackets made in Florida and California.) Unfortunately, I couldn't recommend buying new jackets from Legendary, based on the new photos. These new pics don't look anywhere near as good as they did when I got mine.

I don't like it when a clothing company is unable to duplicate previous successes. The same model jacket should always look the same, within reasonable limits of course, allowing for differences in batches of leather. But huge changes in appearance? That shouldn't happen. Perhaps I've been spoiled by companies like Schott, which still produce nearly identical jackets over many decades. They'll tweak their designs a bit, but a Perfecto still looks about the same as it did on Marlon Brando in The Wild One many decades ago.
