The seller didn't know the size of this one even though it had a tag. I took a gamble on a cheap hat but unfortunately it's not my size. I believe it is a 60s Resistol heather with a 2" underwelt brim. Seller will take a return but return shipping will take up a sizable chunk of my return.

Came with a cool Resistol hat box though, which doesn't match the hat.

Hmmm... does it count as a 'win' if you bought and paid for the hat but had to pay more for it than you were expecting? I just 'won' this hat from 2005. The color will pair nicely w/ a leather jacket but the Indiana Jones factor will be very high. Might need to start carrying a whip into business meetings.

When I retired and moved I evidently lost several items. One was my favorite old Barbour waxed cotton flatcap. Finally got around to getting a replacement. Pairs well with an old Irish Peterson pipe

I've sold a few hats, but usually break even at best (with one notable exception). I got a small place so it behooves me to keep the collection down to a dozen. Never the less, I've been watching for a Mallory and this one came up on Etsy. Didn't last more than a few hours after I spotted it. But I don't think it would have gotten a lot of head time because I already have a couple of grey hats I love. So now I'll be watching for it to show up here. And/or on the 'bay. Here's the gripe: if I see it on the market and it sells for over a hundred bucks I'm going to kick myself into the next county. Here's the rub: it appears to be a Stetson era Mallory, and they get mixed reviews here. So is it a forty-five dollar hat, or a hundred forty-five? Would I have gotten burned trying to flip, or did I miss an easy payday?
