Thanks for posting this. I have been wondering for the longest time how a size 38 looks in one of Aero's 23in pit to pit jackets (which they label as 38. Huh? - although I see they labeled yours as a 42. I just don't understand their sizing system at all! )

Your measurements are almost exactly mine, so now I can see what one of these would look like on me. It's not really my cup of tea but it definitely does not look bad.

Congratulations to you and I hope you get lots of great use out of it.

Hey, thank you man. I really appreciate it and yes, I am a little confused on their sizing. Also, I want to say that this jacket runs one size smaller than what it’s sized on the tag. And you’re absolutely right I have seen the regular highway man in size 38 at 23 P2P. My biggest fear was to get a horse hide jacket too tight where I can’t wear it, this has happened to me before in the past and I deeply regret spending so much money on certain jackets. At this point in my jacket career I would not mind getting one a little bit bigger with more room in the chest and shoulder area. I think I got lucky on this one. It’s an 18 inch shoulder and it fits me spot on…if I pull the jacket forward off my chest. I probably have about 2 1/2 to 3 inches max just enough to put a midweight sweater and take a walk outside. I’m not swimming in the jacket,… my chest with no shirt on is like a 38 so go figure, this jacket is more like a 40. The only thing is that the hem is a little wide but I think that could be adjusted. This horse hide is tremendously stiff. But has a smell like nothing I’ve ever had before in a great way.

As per Aero this is a slim fit but it looks very puffy and boxy on you. On the side profile it looks like you could fit a torso twice as yours in it. The jacket itself looks fantastic, but I'm not sure it's the most flattering look on you.
Yeah, I definitely don’t see this jacket is being a slim fit. If I would’ve gone any smaller, my shoulders would be crunched but yet there’s ample space in the mid section which doesn’t really bother me. This is not a premier so it has lower arm holes. I feel like its by a roomier cut for more room in the shoulder area. I think if you wanted a tighter slimmer fit definitely go with the 1930s premier which, according to Aero is a much slimmer fit than this one. My problem is I don’t wanna fight this jacket.

Sorry to say, but I think this jacket looks unflattering - especially around the hemline.
When I saw the pic above, I thought you had the jacket unzipped and it flared out like that.
But I see that the leather pull is at your chest.

With that hem, you could fit 2 of you in there.

However, I saw your fear about getting a jacket that is too tight. So if this is what is comfortable to you, my opinion doesn't matter anyway.

I totally agree with you, its a tough one. I have small hips but the hem is wide.

In the photos your arms are covering the side straps so it’s difficult to know how short they already are but have you tried cinching or tightening them a bit more ?
This may improve the fit around the middle and give some better shape and definition to the profile, however the risk is that the hem could then flare out and look even larger that it does now.

Sorry but it isn't a good look or fit.imo.ive been there many times and I've always moved those jackets on.if you come on a forum looking for fit advice you already know there's an issue. Either return or sell.

I have cinched it about an inch on both sides, the middle has improved a bit and looks much better, feels better too

I appreciate your input man didn’t really come here for advice, i came here to show you guys what I got and to learn about. I know that optimized fit isn’t always the key, and sometimes things dont always come out the way they’re supposed to, but I like the jacket. I think it fits well. Might not look like everybody’s cup of tea but I like it. And it will have a purpose.

A fit check without a single zipped up photo - bravo. A nope from me in terms of the fit on you - does not loog good or flattering at all in terms of body below the chest.

Looking at where the leather zip pull is the jacket appears to zipped up in at least one of the side on photos; however, it may not look like it because the overall fit is still quite loose.
It’d be interesting to see a few photos of the jacket with the side straps cinched tighter to see how much difference this has made.

This looks like a fit you could easily layer in. I'd like to see you wearing this with a sweater or a thick flannel underneath. I'd bet it looks good like that.

True, wearing it now, I contacted Tailor unfortunately Thurston Brothers will not do the alteration due to the fact that I did not purchase it through them so I found somebody else and I’m gonna go check them out

If you don't want any advice, I think the title of your thread is wrong. As far as I know, „Fit Check“ is always called "Give me your opinion" ;)
Yeah, I just didn’t feel that that comment
“sell it”or “return it” as necessary but thank you

This is about an inch on each side cinched , it seemed to have gotten a little bit better feels better. I have an appointment next week with the Tailor near me, I have a denim button up under the jacket in this picture

When a jacket folds on itself in the back like that it is at least one size too large in the chest:

j1EVmqk.jpeg

What you need is a size 40 with 1" extra in the arms, 2" removed from body length and a 21" bottom hem side to side.

That would look good and fit well.

I'm 6'2", 195lbs and the measuremnts of your jacket would be too big for me... I wear a size 40 in Aero leathers.
I would not attempt alteration as the pattern is just not great for your body shape, i would try something else.
