Picked this pristine 100% beaver felt, made by Stephen Temkin of the Leon Drexler brand. Scored it off FB Marketplace for $50....deal of the century. Too small for me but it fits my wife and she loves it. We lost a great hat maker when Stephen retired.

Hard to capture the color with the dust in the way.

I bought it not knowing the size, but it fits!
Nice. Those older MGL’s are fine hats.

Nice, isn't it from 1936-1953? Borsalino sideways printed on the label?

Thanks Joe. I enjoyed just trying to brush off some of the dust with my hand. So soft.

You may be right Marcel. I was a bit confused by the breakout, but looking at some label examples the 1936 - 1953 was serrated as well.

You can NOT have too many black beautiful homburgs, so i bought this one. A Louis Twenty "styled by Georg Wally". It's in a perfect condition, including windcord, like it's never worn. It only was very dusty, but i cleaned it with a hatbrush only already. It came in with this old Rogers Peet hatbox. If someone can date this hat, please feel free to react. It has the union label inside.
It's a size 7 1/2, but with a tissue behind the leather sweatband, it fits me perfectly. It's a great hat!!

If anyone can recall, you know I have always liked Homburgs and have owned several - modern & vintage. Unfortunately, those Homburgs did not like me, and I was never pleased with the look of any of them on my melon head. I got the itch again a few months back & continued my quest for the "right" Homburg. My searches led to the AzTex Hatters in Scottsdale, AZ - a shop I had visited in-person a few years back. They custom-make Homburgs and after discussing my previous issues with them, I decided to let them make me one. Based on a couple of photos of me in hats I like and telephone discussions, they crafted this one for me in black with a 1" ribbon, and I could not be happier with it. And it was delivered to me in TX ahead of schedule.

Nice find, Marcel.

The union stamp dates the hat as post 1934. By the style, wide ribbon and windcord, I'd say 1940s/50s.

Love the box too, btw.

Thanks Steve. 40's, 50's was my guess too. Where there no union stamps before 1934?

Edit: i found this thread about the union labels.

I think it looks great on you. Strikes the perfect balance. Elegance with a bit of ruggedness. Not too formal not too “western”. Congratulations.

Dalton - America’s Finest - Regal Quality
Grey lightweight felt
4 1/4 Crown as shaped
3/8 Antiqued Grosgrain Ribbon
2 3/4 Brim with 1/8 matching binding
Wind Trolly

The quest to add “America’s Finest” Dalton (some might even say “World’s Finest”) to the collection has come to a close with an assist from @Randall Renshaw to help me tick off this box with a timely “heads up”. I knew this one was gonna need a bit of cleanup/reshaping work. But boy was I surprised when I got the alert it had been delivered and I looked outside my door to find no package. I thought “is it in the mailbox?? Couldn’t be! But sure enough it arrived smashed nearly flat in a vinyl envelope. Not to worry though these old felts are quite resilient and I was able to reshape reasonably well just by hand…. A good steam was all it really needed to remove most of the crinkling and came out quite well overall. There are a few small blemishes in the rear of the felt as well as one tiny pin sized moth nip towards the front of the crease but they all stay fairly hidden. Most or all of the finish has worn off the reeding edge. Other than that it is in great shape.

The felt is a beautiful medium grey with what I assume was a once color matching now antiqued thin ribbon and binding. It makes for a really nice look on this old Stratoliner/OR styled hat. With its thinner felt and soft thin sweatband… I’d lean toward being more of a “Strat-o-like”. Thanks go out to Randall for the heads up on this one. A very enjoyable hat That even features a wind trolley.
