I think they write to everyone who can spell clothes or leather jackets. I feel like I have half of Sialkot/Pakistan in my message requests. And every time I think I've reached the 100% mark, a new batch of “leading manufacturers of garments and leather jackets” arrives. ;-)

Lol this is bad. Instagram now actively tries to feed people's social media addiction by awarding them with badges. I got a popup telling me "Just 1.1k more views and you'll earn another badge". This is just terrible.

Gamification wherever you look. I haven't seen anything like that yet... or I've missed it lol
But these badges have always left me cold, regardless of whether it was Garmin or Apple. And the ones from Insta interest me even less.

I woke up to a new achievement today "Your post gained 1000 impressions", feels like I'm back playing my XBOX 360.

Anyway, I follow quite a few of you on here, but I'm sure there's many that I don't due to not knowing the account names.

I'd actually quite like to know people's Instagram names, as there's plenty of FL members whose accounts I would follow on Instagram.

I don't post any pictures on my Instagram, I just have it so I can follow people.

I just noticed this shill promoting his made in China 'LA Brea'. It indeed looks like a bad copy of the Freewheelers La Brea but why do they also have to steal the Freewheelers model name? Extremely poor taste imo, just call it the Leathertogs.

I checked their website and of course they also offer the Mulholland, Brakeman and San Mateo. The jackets are made of horsehide 'based on Shinki' lol.

The irony: on their label they call themselves 'original' and 'Authentic'.

What surprises me most of all is how many people like and give praise to this shill's posts, Himel included lol. Himel who always rants about other brands stealing 'his' designs.

To make it worse, I haven't found the specific Simons one, but you can but a similar d-pocket in horsehide from Tailor Brando for 300 USD or 239. If I dig deep enough I'll like find the exact same one either here, in Aliexpress or a similar middleman. Not on Taobao cause I'm too lazy to check there.

I don't like much of any cuz they seem more about performative pictures and making sure everyone knows they're wearing $8k worth of stuff.

I think Simons jacket are pretty nice. Horsehide look like shinki, event stitches. Unbeatable for the price. They have prices around 200-300 dollars if you buy them from china.

Although personally I think they look mediocre, that's not my point. My point is that it's poor taste to use Freewheelers' and Shinki's brandnames.

One guy on reddit grabbed their J-31 copy. Looks pretty decent for the price. Nothing new in terms of the actual maker (Simons) and Brake House is just another middle man like TB. As always, you pay extra for customer support, consultation, easy returns, hopefully some QC. Sure you can get the same item from Taobao / Aliexpress cheaper, but you're not getting the extra middle man "services".

As there are no real alternatives in terms of budget - it's either Vintage or high end JP/US reproductions, both of which are 3-10 times more expensive than grabbing a chinese copy.

But yeah, the blatant use of other brand names / model names to get more traffic is annoying but not unexpected from folks offering goods from China.

If we are talking about the same Simons then I think they started as a military repro company (or maybe they added this as a side activity).
From the photo's I have seen the nylon they use in their flight jackets seems quite good and relatively consistent with originals (to the extend of a repro that costs 7 less than real mc coys) however they don't use the typical wool interlining of the original B series but rather 3M thinsulate (not saying this is bad, but it is then not an exact repro).
