What are some movies with really cool leather jackets?

Magnum Force, with those CHP jackets, comes to mind first and foremost. Also Mad Max, with Mel Gibson. And another one with the CHP jacket was Electra Glide in Blue.

For me, it doesn't get any better than Magnum Force. Riding around on police motorcycles, wearing black leather CHP jackets & mirror sunglasses, shooting criminals with .357 magnum Colt Python revolvers. Makes you wanna run to the *** store and buy a Colt Python, eh? The best scene is when David Soul (Hutch from Starsky & Hutch) takes the stairs to a mob gangster's condo suite and kills everyone in there, while looking super cool in his black CHP jacket!

So what's your favorite movie with leather? Describe one of the iconic scenes and say why you can't get enough!

My favorite screen leather jacket and my reaction to the OP's idea of a good time.

Marlo Brando’s from The Wild One.

That's a really solid choice. The Indiana Jones jacket is also on a par with that for me.

A jacket I love in the context of a film I love (but would never wear out of that context) is Tim Curry's leather jacket in the Rocky Horror PIcture Show (believe to be a Lewis Plainsman, but could also be the equivalent Highwayman model).

Another jacket I love as a jacket without being a huge fan of the film (decent as it is) is the Seabiscuit jacket.

The M-422a in Top ***. The jacket was basically the main vcharcater in the movie. I was 14 when the picture came out and thought, there was no cooler jacket in the world.

Indiana Jones, of course, for much the same reason.

The Great Escape for the way, Steve McQueen´s whole wardrobe was pure iconic American cool (especially attractive, being a German myself; of course, we do refer to the movie as "The Great Capture"...).

I notice that the three letter word for a firearm starting with the letter "g" is getting ironed out, probably by the AI on this website. Why would that be? I'm scratchin' my head. Since when is "g-n" a bad word? Weird, eh?

Escape from New York - I'll have to rewatch that one for the leather jacket. All I remember is seeing the black vest.

The Wild One - yeah, I knew someone would put that one up. The movie is absolutely tame by today's standards, but I have to admit that I've watched it at least five or six times. That coffee shop chick was really hot! They don't make 'em like they used to!

Couple more that I thought of:

Roustabout, with Elvis Presley in a cross zip. Kind of a lame movie, but nice jacket, nice bike, nice chick. The music could've used a bit more umph.

The Wicker Man remake, with Nicholas Cage. In one early scene, he's a motorcycle cop wearing what looks like a Schott Perfecto. Unfortunately, it's just one scene, and a quick one at that.

Another Nicholas Cage movie, Ghost Rider, features his character Johnny Blaze wearing a cross zip most of the time.

The censorbot that came in with the last update to the underlying forum architecture has a very wide range of words it blurs out. As ever with extremely censorious types, the more I see of the list the more I realise that whomever programmed it has an absolute cesspool of a mind. Management are trying to do what they can in the background and hopefully it'll back off at some point. There are some of the terms it bars I can see the thinking behind, but as ever these technologies' inability to determine context is a right pain.

I always thought of the TG jacket as a Korea / Nam era G1, but I'm probably wrong on that. Not a film I ever liked, but undeniably a cinema icon. To the point where for years I was reticent about an AVG repro jacket because I didn't want the obvious annoying comments.

Also the 1960 Easy Rider US flag stripped cafe racer is very iconic in my opinion.

I remember being very disappointed by that film - but again, undeniably pop culture icons. (For my money, Vanishing Point was far superior in that general vein.)

I watched The Untouchables (for the umpteenth time) the other day and was really admiring Elliott Ness's leather jacket. Lots of great hats, as well!

It probably IS a G-1, but I am not enough of a military-repro buff to be ever able to know. I like the movie for the memory it evokes, but wouldn´t dream about getting a TG-patched jacket.

"Easy Rider" is pretty mind-numbing to watch. I did in my late teens, so the itch is scratched for good. Same with "The Wild One".
Both do however serve as a reminder that size and fit are no objective things. To my eye, Peter Fonda wear the "US-jacket" both too wide and too long in the torso the same as Marlon Brando looks like somebody had squeezed him into jeans and jackets that are simply one size too small for him. Yet, both are somewhat of (pop-)cultural icons even decades after their time.

Also possible the TG jacket was a later model intended to pass for a much earlier one. I don't think they were as fussy about details in those days...

Fonda's jacket does look funny now you point it out. Brando's was on-point for how they were worn by the sort of guys Strabler was a nod to back in the late forties - tight on the waist to stop it riding up in the event of a spill and keep the chill out, big over the shoulders for ease of movement. Looks a bit odd these days, certainly. I quite like a little room in shoulders on an MC, though definitely as tight as Brando's round the hem becomes a bit much ,fast.

Another one I thought of: The Thing (From Another World), in black & white. A-2 jacket for the hero. And another pretty girl. Even includes a scene where she has restrained her friend's hands and pours a drink into his mouth. (This is only on the uncut 87 min. version. I hear the tv version got edited by the prudes.)

The jacket was probably the usual dark brown in color. With the lack of color in the movie, it looks black of course. I'm waiting on an A-2 jacket myself in black from cockpitusa.

Wow, on my last post, the AI censor is completely out of control! I wrote "hot [baby chicken]" and "tied [opposite of down]" and it all got bleeped/starred out. So I went back and made a couple of changes to be understandable. What the hell?
