Wet hat care
I think he meant to snap the brim up all the way around. Then you place the hat right side up on the towel until it dries. After it's dry, you can snap the brim back down. I didn't get that the brim was "up" as in setting it on its crown.
This is a great thread
I'll have a hard time coming up with some that aren't already mentioned, but I'll try. How about "Battle of the Bulge", i particularly like that one. Didn't the Airborne guys get rescued on Christmas day?
I also like that Batman movie with the Penguin. (Keaton &...
What I did to my Federation
I tried a couple of different bashes on mine. The one that is staying involved the use of cardboard & steam. I cut out what looks like a long skinny football out of cardboard. Then I bent a curve into it. Using the Federation's crown height to advantage, I then...
does anyone have an update
does anyone have an update on the original topic of this thread? I wondered if they were able to identify him, and who he was.
Just get a hat on!
We all got into hats in different ways, but we all started somewhere. I basically grew up under a Stetson. I got my first real hat at 13, and have had one, or more ever since. Whenever I fancied a new one, I gave the old one to some family member kid to play in. I kind of...
My new Knox fedora just arrived today. Looks to be new old stock, and in perfect shape. It is in a cool coppery brown too. Unfortunately, and much to my surprise, it is actually a short brimmed Homburg. I like Homburgs, it just looked like a fedora with a wind trolly, not a pencil roll. This is...
I ordered my Akubra from Australia
It is a Coolibah model, (well one of them is). I just looked on the internet. I had some concerns about the crocodile band posing a problem, but it "never came up"
I couldn't pass this up, any chance to quote Yogi
"You can observe a lot just by watching."
"He must have made that before he died." -- Referring to a Steve McQueen movie.
"You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there."
"You better...
how about the hat
Akubra still makes their military slouch hat. Just unsnap it, bend it a bit, then wear it through the desert for a few months.
You can still buy new Brunton compasses, but I'll bet ebay has some cool brass ones.
Also if you haunt the gun shows you might find one of those...
I have shot many a rifle over the top of my hat. In fact I registered to post something on this topic. A wide flat cowboy hat provides the best base. If the hat is placed over a rock, or stump, it doesn't matter. The soft crown is also best, as the weight of the rifle pushes down the hat will...
