I tried on a couple of the Gap chinstrap shirts today while in Paris. Very poor indeed. Armholes way too big, leading to restricted arm movement and pulling around the chest, and they're far too short.
The chinstraps are fine, but the shirts they're attached too are abominable.

It sounds contradictory but it is so. Large, low armholes mean the sleeve is attached to a larger circumference of the shirt body. Because this larger area is attached to the arm you have more of the shirt body being pulled as you move your arm.
The best way to understand this is so try a well cut garment. You will experience that "a-ha!" moment as your arms move and your shirt (or jacket) stays put.
