So far the grey homburg wants a simple center crease, but the sweat is toast. it just tore off its own stitching like perforated paper. I'm changing my mind and considering attempting to sew a new one in myself. Anyone know where to get sweatbands?

I made the mistake of thinking I'd make a final decision on whether or not to set a sniper on this blue 7 3/8 Portis when I got home from work today, depending on whether the bidding had continued inching the price up. Unfortunately, due to working an Internet outage at one of my sites until late evening I didn't get home until after the auction closed! :eusa_doh:

By the time I finally had Internet service restored all I wanted to do was to head home (almost 2 hours away) and didn't think to check in to eBay before I left. Oh, well... I hope it went to someone who'll appreciate it!

Cheers,
Tom

So who got the superb Caxton (not as old as it looks, but great)?

Who got the extremely unusual Champ?

I was tempted by this Resistol Milan because I have its brother. Same make, model, store, age, size, AND initials.
Mine's a golden "natural" color. Must have been the same original buyer. But that was more than I wanted to spend
(though still a good deal).

Don't know how I snagged this:

I'd guess early 1950's from sweatband imprint (gold carriage) and plastic tip in liner. But style looking a bit backward from that.

Here is what it looked like after a little re-shaping from the original Harry Truman look:

Actual color chocolate brown. Per eBay records, went BIN on May 6...did anyone else see it and pass it up? I never saw it until Sunday night and pounced.

Actual brim is 2-1/2" (not 2.75 as per seller), 5-15/16" straight open crown, somewhat on light weight side at 4.5 ounces, absolutely beautiful finish and firm but not stiff hand. Might become my favorite.
