Hi ladies....haven't been around forever! I stumbled on this new contraption....has anyone tried it for a finger wave?

Do you think it would work doing one side of the head at a time, i.e. so that you can have a side part?

It looks like it would only work to tame really curly hair into a regular wave. I can imagine me garotting myself with it!

I ordered one of them....I'll let you know how it works.

I imagine you could set it at any angle for the wave and pull thru any hair you wished to style separately. I'll give a report

I have an original from the 30s made of rubber, too delicate to test. I think the price is reasonable, might give it a bash.

Ooo, how intriguing! You would definitely have to remember to take it off before you answer the door (!) ….and I can only imagine what jest you would get from the family/friends and the other half!:eeek:
I’m still longing for a 30’s one myself and I’ve been thinking up ways to make a new version. I just need to find more details/ pictures of a original one first, then I'm finding some my copper sheet or some flexible rubber!

She says you can do it to the side, but doesn't show it.

I am already thinking about making one from waistband elastic. I had such good luck with the headband
set, this could be a variation.

Hmm...I might buy one of these. I've seen many pics of the old ones from the 20s and they are pretty much the same concept. So glad someone has come up with a modern version. I don't know whether to get the full one or the half head though.

As for the side part (which is what I normally do), I think it could be done quite easily by parting the hair first before placing the cap on your head. Then you would wave the hair in the directions needed. My hair is bobbed to the bottom of my neck. I'd love to have waves to the middle of the back of my head so maybe the longer one is the go. I dont want to be drying different sections and matching them up.

It's very cheap anyway so worth getting. I have every vintage waving contraption from the day imaginable, and the only thing that works well is my water wavers. So, let's all post out pics here when we try them out

One of my friends had something similar to that. I tried it once but I didn't get a nice even wave, it was just like there were bumps all over my head.
I think it would work if you had time to practice with it, but my first tries failed pretty badly.
