I've had some serious doubts about this, remakes being what they are and the 1989 film being a masterpiece. But this film was a very pleasant disappointment.

For whatever reason, 1978's Superman is being shown on cable this month. Holy crap, I do believe Christopher Reeve was born for that role. And Gene Hackman was hilarious!

Hippie Bus
In honer of James, I watched "The Bus Story" about the VW Bus! It was actually pretty good, they did point out that the Hippies were just a tiny part of the Bus history. Most of the Bus drivers I have known were bikers. They were great for hauling a dirt bike to the races. I have also known some hard core campers who love them. I even remember a ranch having one, which they used as a modern Chuck Wagon. Makes sense, a stove, plenty of room for grub, and if it got stuck, a horse could pull it out!

To Have and Have not. I first saw it on the big screen back in 1981 at an arts theater here, and have loved it ever since. Bogie and Bacall never disappoint. Neither does Walter Brennan as the trusty sidekick.

"The Eyes of Laura Mars"-1978, Faye Dunaway, Tommy Lee Jones, Brad Dourif. Talk about a movie stuck in its time!
The screenplay was written by John Carpenter but the director changed it significantly (can't remember his name right now. He also directed "Empire Strikes Back").
