Like a Melton Wool VDR and a very utilitarian jacket ... but NOT AT ALL LIKE the wool and leather Halfbelt posted here.
The style with the leather patches originates from the 1920's ( the term Donkey jacket - as per the original leather patched version - being entered into the Oxford Dictionary in 1929 ) the original style of jacket predates this and originates from the mid 19th century in the form of a workers wool sack coat ( albeit that this did not have the traditional leather panels and these were not added till the early 20th century to enable the jacket to be used by miners and coal workers in particular).

I agree with the other members: Both jackets are amazing and the fit is spot on. I like the trimmer style and made the same way as you. going down from a 44, that was sold to me by a dealer, to a 42 or to 40. The experience to find the right size costs time and money.

Lookin' good my friend. "Stylin' and profilin" as Clyde Frasier would say. Not a fan of the Donky but on you it looks good. Now the Dustbowl.... that's a horse of a different color. I love the color, the style AND the fit. But truth be told the back shot of the Donkey makes that bad boy look "tough as hell". Good scores my friend.

not too shabby at all Eric you must be pleased. I agree that dustbowl is smarter than a highwayman, especially with a nice fitted one like you have there. The HB looks good on too and I guess that one a bit more wearable i.e. lighter, which all adds up to two very nice options indeed. Well played sir
