I think aboittoir is a common enough name in the UK - but imagine if that name had gone clean over my head and, blissfully unaware, I'd taken her home !!! Crikey. I'd say I'd dodged a bullet there - but it's more than that, as there's not much dodging to be done against two cartridges of 12 Gauge buckshot! No thanks. Check please!

There is the odd older Eastman ANJ-4 floating around with russet horse trim despite the old printed catalogue saying it's seal only. From memory John Lever used to have one ?

I had a trawl through my old HD but couldn't find any pictures but came across this.....near mint B-3 redskin

Beautiful.
What a testament to these types of jackets and why we all admire them like we do. They just keep on ticking for decades and look better with age. Like I always say, it's not so much how long they'll last - but who you'll leave them to!

Hmmm.
At first sight, I thought not - but now you ask and the more I look at it, Sloan, I'm not so sure. Quite possibly? It could just be the light/camera - it's hard to be sure, but maybe? The cuffs do look different to the pocket on the front shot.
Incredible thickness and plushness of fleece - it's very Aero and not like the ELC variant. It'll still be warm after all these years.

Look at the back of the left cuff. 100% redskin shearling on my colour corrected monitor. Always best though to avoid harsh sunlight photographing jackets.

You're absolutely right, I think it's the waist band is just slightly faded compared to the rest of it.

Those two-tone ones sorta appeal to me in the same way as the Grizzly (if not quite so much so). I definitely like the mask-clip triangle. I like those sorts of little details that are broadly redundant for my usage, but still look kinda cool and knowing about their design purpose.

I agree about the oxygen mask clip. It adds a touch of panache and interest to the jacket, and was unique to the ANJ-4 but not all of them.

I'm not sure the bison would agree with your other statement though!

Nigel would probably want to do it a 3/4 length coat.

It is. I've always loved the way they look, but it was when I saw an ANJ 'in the flesh' at Aero that I decided that my life was meaningless without one. Should be with me some time next week.

Chalk and cheese. Older the better every time.
This one has the seal hh trim so is better than the cheaper Steerhide version which was russet. I just prefer the dense pile of the Merino fleece. I also prefer the snaps on the pockets and throat latch ; the button pockets are less practical. I know the history as the original owner found it too small so it's almost unworn.
A 44 would be better for me as the early patterns were not quite right but this will do for now. The modern Eastmans use quithe a short pile at 18 mm. Aero use 22 mm which is perfect. I think this is very similar but curly.
