Just got this in... and am heartbroken since the it’s just too small for me. Can anyone give me a bit of info on this in terms of age? I will say, this thing is blowing my mind. I‘m not an expert, I have handled a few westerns before... but none have been this soooffft. I had no idea...

Edit: that is a real interesting crease! I think I like it. They seem to have really experimented with differant creases for thier westerns in the 50's......

I'd agree with the 50s assessment, or even early to mid 60s.

The brim binding is odd. Alan and i discussed it alittle in another thread. All i can think is maybe the original owner special ordered it to be different. I don’t know if that was even possible back then. But it looks factory done to me. Rather well actually. It adds to the hat but i guess we’ll never know.
Also, both those hats are hard brimmed and very firm crowned. Not soft in the least. This strikes me as odd especially how well used the hundred is. Hell, you could fly em like a frisbee.
Lastly, Bob R says hi to ya. He still sounds brims up. Lol

After pushing it out to an open crown I did a similar crease in order to eliminate a taper that I didn't like.

^^^^ I tried something similar on this Adam. I think I need to bring those creases to the same plane (which will lower the crown a bit) or lengthen them to see if it would be more effective.

Good work on the brim, Bob. I like that look a lot. If you like you can always lower the crown by sinking it a bit, like a Planters hat. My Thoroughbred is too rounded so I prefer it open crown.Whew! We will be leaving in the morning with friends in their new motorhome for Cheyenne Frontier Days. Still deciding if I can take two hats or just one. Probably should just take a straw.

Not sure of what vendors will be there. Cheyenne Outfitters is out of business now, I think. We will be restricted to using the shuttle or other public transportation to get around.

Got tickets for the PBR, the Trail to Cheyenne Championship, plus a couple of other nights at the rodeo. Old West Town, Indian Village, the museum, etc. Looking forward to it!
