WW1 flying coats

Hello everyone

As i'm doing more and more research, the design of the WW1 flying coats caught my attention. I am aware that there are not any real 'contracts' such as with a lot of WW2 flying jackets, but does anyone know makers who manufacture a respectable reproduction? I've already come across Eastman, but their coat isn't sheepskin lined, and also Chapal, which I do not think is worth the money. Any suggestions are certainly welcome!

Thanks for the links, the one on VLJ looks a lot like the Eastman WW1 flying coat. It's a peculiar thing that there are lots of repro-makers of WW2 jackets but not from WW1...

You're welcome. John's black coat (currently in the classifieds) does resemble the ELC coat, but it's considerably cheaper. Personally, while I'd never have cause to wear it I do like the shorter RFC wrap over jacket.

The shorter one has my preference too. The most beautiful design are the french flying coats, and Chapal does make a stunning example. Just not quite prepared to splurge that amount of money on a coat.

Depends what you're after, really. The RFC coats I've only seen from History Bunker. TBH, that eastman with a shearling lining would be absolutely perfect, as the cotton lining is the only thing that's putting me off at the moment.

I'm surprised they don't offer it, but given that Eastman are more of a sell-from-stock model of business, I suppose if they don't think there's much demand for it, they won't offer it.

Adore this topic. I'd say Edward put his thumb down on Eastman's stock-in-trade remark.
Second War sartorial fairly eclipsed the First with the exception of the 1918 Trench classic.
