@Edward, I've got a feeling that the waistcoats that the Shackleton is based on were available with sleeves or collar as options. I'm sure that I've seen posts here mentioning it.

I reckon that doing a Shackleton in Aero's Majestic Goatskin could work. Do the front with the grain side out, and the back with the suede. The question is whether they have big enough skins for the large panels.

Not really a jacket, but I had no idea these leather sleeves were a thing, they are basically chaps for your arms!
I wouldn't wear them but i think it is quite a cool idea.

It also gave me a great opportunity to troll my girlfriend:

Carlos,
Absolutely loved the leather sleeve exchange with your girlfriend and I think she would make an amazing addition to the lounge!

You could well be right on that. The jacket in the photo above, with the v-neck, is based very much on European workwear; in the 20s, a fancier version - basically a sleeved waistcoat - was common among male staff at the Big Houses, partly as a sleeved waistcoat helped keep heat in, partly also because it obviated the need for a top-layer jacket for staff that weren't often visible 'upstairs'.

Goat is the hide I would be looking at for an all-leather version. Interesting idea to do it roughout on the back...

Someone snagged a lined blue Kehoe CR off eBay today. Hope it was one of you guys.

The Kehoe brand is seriously underrated. The leather on my steerhide Kehoe blows my Brooks gold label out of the water. No joke. I believe @technovox would agree with me on Kehoe leather quality.

Definitely love the soft, supple patina that the Kehoe steerhide develops after years of use. And I've always liked the way Kehoes have zips on the tops of the sleeves. They are definitely under the radar as far as quality for price.

And they're so damn comfortable to wear.

Between Buco, Brooks and Kehoe, the Detroit area was a strong center for leather jacket manufacturing for quite a while. Some people might also toss Reed in there, but I've not been impressed with the Reed jackets I've come across.

This vintage suede trucker is interesting:

Interesting thing on this is the label.... Just before I scrolled down and saw that, I was thinking this is either a fairly mainstream fashion piece from the 70s, or an earlier, more Western-related design. I could see the like of this going down a storm among the corners of the rockabilly crowd that love that late 40s - erly 50s, pre-rock and roll country end of things. (And you don't hardly see that these days.)
