Thanks, Eric. The Sunday crossword at the coffee shop is my weekly reboot. A little bit of me time before the week ahead. I tried taking inspiration from your always classy caps and coffee (or beer) pics but the end result came up woefully short.

Eight panel cotton cap in a railroad type stripe. Bought this from their stand at Goodwood Revival a couple of weeks ago, lovely quality. Great range of caps with outstanding materials; some made from original 30s cloth, others from newly woven, recreated 30s cloth. Irish linens and tweeds.

My favorite style. I don't like the ones that stand up high, I like them to lay flat like that.

I love a cap with a bit of slouch in the body, where it can be pulled to hang down over one side, a la Brando. This one has that a little (their tweeds much more so), it does sit really nice. It's a great weight, too - I have a lot of great Winter weight caps and some very nice Summer ones, but this is something in the middle. Linen is now too thin for the turn the weather is taking here, while tweed can sometimes still be a bit on the warm side. This cotton is just right for early Autumn. On the basis of this one, I'll be back for more. Oh, and how's this for comedy value - it was only when I spoke to them at GR that I discovered the owner-founder is from the Old Country, just a few miles up the road and went to school with a cousin of mine! Small world.


Must also remember to post photos of my Amicharnel cap. It eventually arrived after a few months and a chaser via paypal, with an apology that they were behind as the maker was ill. I hope they can get over that hiccup, as it's a really nice cap too. I'd say the Sussex Tweed is the better, but the Amicharnel is still very nice, especially given how little they charge. (I suspect they might find they have to raised the price a little if they want to get it off the ground full time; under-valuing the price of their own labour is a common problem I see with this type of start-up.)
