Which sole did you get on yours? I'm getting Dr. Sole red/brown half soles on mine.

I've never been into half soles but I'm changing my mind about them recently.
I got the dr soles black raw cord full sole, wished I could have gotten a commando sole or 430 vibram so I could use it better with hiking and such activity.

Wore my Renav bison boots with Dr Sole half-soles while hiking yesterday. Carried my babygirl up and down 660 stairs. My thigh were burning but the feet were comfortable!

Ah ok, gotcha. I've always been a fan of half soles. The 430 is nice. It gives you more grip, but doesn't look like a lug sole.

I'm still on the fence with lug soles but I'm sure they'll come in handy. The boot with the 430 I ordered is still in production so i still haven't worn one. What would you say is the most versatile outsole for a mix of city wear and light hikes?

I have a pair of Benzein’s arriving tomorrow (Java olive pull-up Derby) and Flame Panda boots (Wesco Hendriks copy) on order. It’ll be interesting to see how much better the FP are compared to Benzein.

Those are actually really nice looking, and reasonably priced. How is sizing for you? True to Brannock size, or did you have to size down? I'm a Brannock 8D, but I have to go with 7.5D in nearly all boots to get a proper fit.

I went half size down and got a perfect fit. Obviously different for everyone but should be a decent guideline. Just got them and haven’t worn them so no full review as a warning for anyone who grabs them. As of a good once over and fit test I like them an awful lot for the price. But that may change after another good look over or a few days of prolonged wear. But they seem to be a good middle ground between super accurate but simply cosplay style boots that cost 100 bucks but will fall apart if actually worn; and then the military inspired 400 dollar and up boots that are built way nicer but are not as period correct.

Thanks. They only go down to a size 8D, so not for me I guess. Just as well, I have too many boots.

Oh I know that’s what I am. I was lucky; my wallet was not ha. I was afraid I’d have to go down to 7.5 which I had to do for my red wing IRS and Blacksmiths but fortunately for these 8 works. But after I grease them up real good and wear them around I will do a proper write up for anyone curious about them.

Benzein’s in Java olive pull-up. Overall, pretty impressed for $300. Pull-up leather is 4oz thick.

That looks great! I haven't looked into these benzeins before but that looks casual but can also be dressed up. How do you find the locally sourced leather?

Seems to be pretty good as far as I can tell. I do prefer my boot leathers to be in the 5-6oz range though. It appears that all of Benzein’s leathers are in the 4oz range bc he uses liners in his shoes/boots.
