Perhaps BK can add some provenance to this hat. He sold it to me for a nice price. It's a black Mossant with a bound edge; the edge is bound barely 1/16" on the top of the brim, but more on the bottom. The felt is very, very soft, but oh so lovely to the touch. I have to be careful with it, or regular handling will change the creasing and shape. But it's so soft and supple that I don't mind it one bit. I really like the bow treatment.

I thought this one didn't come out to well at first, but it gives a nice view of the binding on the underside of the brim.

Having had that hat in my hands - I'm astonished you coaxed any shape into it. My impression was that is was luxuriously, buttery soft, and floppy. As though it were made of velvet and without shape at all. Picking it up caused the whole works to fall like a kitchen towel grasped in the middle and held aloft. It certainly looks great now!

Wow, thanks. I've never tried anything like that before. I've been very gentle with it and did a simple center dent, that's what's going to work, it seems. But I'll have to simply grasp it by the brim.

Looks good on you. It is clearly the thinnest, floppiest, least stiffened felt i've ever come across. Like Scott, i'm amazed it can hold the shape you put it in. The only way i could get any stability into the crease was with a pretty deep C-crown. It's quite remarkable; i don't think i would believe how soft f i had't touched it. For one, i was stunned after picking it up that it had a liner. I was sure it was going to be summer weight, like the Brosson i sold.

That edge binding treatment is great, isn't it.

As for provenance, it came in a large lot of hats i purchased. Some fit, some (like this one) didn't.

Glad you like it!
