Vintage-Inspired clothing lines

For any UK ladies interested, I found a perfect cotton shirtwaister dress in H&M the other week and I like the fit so much I bought two! One in a very light grey and one in black. It buttons to the waist, has a self tie belt (but I add my own vintage belt) and a full skirt. I wore the grey one to work last week and one of my male colleagues complimented me twice on it! I love it as it's a simple, staple item and since it's cotton it can be just be thrown in the washing machine.

I also got this brown button down dress from Dorothy Perkins. It's one of those dresses which looks a lot better on! It cinches in your waist with a full(ish) skirt and just fits in all the right places. Another great dress for work.

Not clothing but Monsoon have some really nice vintage style homewares in at the moment such as photo frames, trinket boxes and compacts (see below). I got given this fabulous 'art deco' style clock for my birthday.

there is a very cute cream coloured daydress at old navy right now with a little peter-pan collar. very late 40s. i wish i had taken a picture to show you ladies because i cant seem to find it one their website. if you're at the mall any time soon be sure to go in and check it out.

h&m is also stocking some cute dark-wash linen sailor pants, although when i tried them on they gave me the dreaded CT [huh]

They have some great other vintage things like really pretty chenille bedspreads, a 40's lettuce head and tomato head tablecloth with matching salt/pepper shakers, and 50's style steel lawn furniture.

I love Sophie Voon!! She's based in Wellington, NZ!! Her clothing line is soo vintage inspired!!! I highly recommend this brand!!!! "Voon"!!!!!!!!!

I really like some of the things Cath Kidston has in at the moment, in particular the cowboy skirt and the tea dresses. You can't really see it in the photos but the bright floral dresses have a very 40s inspired bodice shaping.

Cath Kidston stuff is always so pretty! The dresses are lovely and that cowboy skirt is just awesome. Cath Kidston is quite expensive though.

The models all look like they have giant heads for their bodies - like puppets... or macroencephaletics...or Lady Penelope from the Thunderbirds...

Circle skirt question!

To all the ladies who own a vintage circle skirt / have sewn a repro/ know these things:
I was thinking of buying a repro circle skirt at the shop linked below, and would like to choose the fabric that would be/ look 50's authentic (I know the elastic waistband is a giveaway, but nevermind): poly cotton blend (65% cotton, 35% poly), 100% polyester, or "felt" (100% acrylic). Let me know what you think, I value your opinions highly!
