Dorfman makes a captain's hat, probably pretty good quality, and so do others. I don't think they vary much in style or quality. They're all over the web. Most all of them are cotton anyways. I have an ancient version that I still wear from time to time. You can simply remove the anchor patch--on most of them, it's sewn on.

I think the Kriegsmarine U-boat officers hat is about the closest thing that I have found thus far. While they have the buckle & strap across the front they unfortunately carry the insignia sewn onto the front and the scrambled eggs across the bill.

The one that MrBern found would be perfect if it had the strap across the front and was more of a crusher style. The only other image I can think of is the one that Matthew McConaughey had worn in U-571.

Thanks for the effort folks, it is most appreciated.

Cheers!

Ahoy - For A Captain's Hat

Try eBay categories like...Canadian Navy, Australian Navy, British Navy, Coast Guard...Military surplus...Militaria...WWII...WWI...Captain hats. You may also want to try MillerHats.com. They may be able to help you. There is also a repro company called something like World War II Silhouettes. They have a catalog of reproductions.
Also try Australian Army as their visor hats were pretty cool and much like the British army. Leather peaks.
Another more expensive suggesyion would be Baron Hats of California which makes any kind of hat for the movie studios. They're in Burbank, CA.
Good luck!

Most large professionally crewed yachts now source their uniforms (and covers) from Smallwoods Yacht Uniforms in Ft Lauderdale.

This is Smallwoods' $84 Captain's hat:

There is an etiquette for determining the hat's badging - the photo and link are for a private yacht captain. Different badging is used to denote a yacht's owner when the owner is attired in his Yacht Club's uniform. And, of course, the Armed Services of the military each have their own badging. The "scrambled eggs" on the visor identify the Captain, but the hat can be ordered without the visor brading for other crewmen.

The grime and wear seen in the movie hat are not a Smallwoods option.
