A few of my friends and I find Snape dead sexy. Alan Rickman, yes, but Snape?! He's so....sinister, and I love it! Very few people agree [huh]

I have a thing for the "bad boy" so Mohawks, Tripp Pants, Tatoo's, etc...but on the other hand, I love a "Sophisticated man".

Hugh Jackman, Robert Duval, Gerard Butler (at times) etc.

Mmm... Snape. Yes, I totally agree. Alan Rickman portrays him so.... mmm. I can't wait for Half-Blood Prince since he's getting the whole villain treatment... sexy hair, rocking robes, and more screen time! Yay!

Also, I have to totally agree in regards to Gerard Butler. He's on my list of 5 freebies.

Granted a lot of people didn't care for it, but I adored his performance in Phantom of the Opera. I get very good chills when I hear him sing "Past the Point of No Return" and have told my husband on many occasions that if Gerard Butler would sing to me like that he'd be replaced tout suite.

Of course, that might change if I could convince my man to wear something other than the occasional baseball cap...

Ha. I might have known this was the one forum where I could confess my problem with men, and know lots of you would Get me...

OK... *cough*... here it is....

Men, especially of the highly-muscled types, in swimsuits (or less..!) leave me cold. Don't know why. Maybe it's because nothing is left to the imagination... And I have a very vivid imagination. Or perhaps I'm just a Brains Babe..

But put a good-looking man in a DJ and -- if he is intelligent, kind and funny -- I need smelling-salts..

Hugh Jackman is a case in point. You can keep Wolverine. But the latter scenes of "Kate and Leopold".. Or when showing off his outrageous talent in "Oklahoma!" ...

*swoon*

But isn't that the beauty of "our" era? .. It's all about brains, wit, dash and sophistication...? .... Not sweaty muscle.

I completely agree. My husband doesn't seem to understand why the fact he's not the svelte young man that I started dating years ago doesn't seem to bother me. Regardless of getting a bit softer around the middle, in his tortoise shell glasses, and a sharp suit, my heart still skips a beat each time I see him.

Heck, he says he fell in love with me while we were sitting on the floor of Barnes and Noble arguing about Greek Mythology so I think he could understand, even if he doesn't believe me.

Well, yes. Marc C. Fair point. I wasn't implying that there weren't ladies about then who didn't obtain more than a powder-compact's pleasure from admiring semi-clad males. I only meant that the kulture of the era wasn't all about pecs-n-a-sixpack. Men didn't have to get their kit off to be considered attractive. And Attractiveness was about more than looking good in swimmers. Personality and wit (real, scripted or perceived) counted for as much.

Or did they? Have I been idolising the 30s/40s movie culture too much?
