Need help finding a great boot.. ideas anyone?

Hi,
I've been getting the itch lately for boots. I've got a pair of Alden's Indy boots but for some reason they're not doing it for me for everyday wear. Don't get me wrong, they're super comfortable, but I need something a bit more.. I dunno...stylishly rugged..or ruggedly stylish. A while back Orvis had their Lindbergh Aviator boots which I quite liked, but I was late pulling the trigger on those. I'm looking for something either Made in USA, Italy, Spain, or England if possible.

Can some of you share some ideas? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Wow, very good to know the Orvis boot is still available. This is good news. Any more ideas anyone? The Orvis certainly is in the vein I'm looking for.

Might be too rugged but check out WEST COAST SHOE COMPANY - aka WesCo. Amazing custom made work boots from Scappoose, OR. Great example of a custom order website too. Get onto the Demo Build part of the website and build your boots. I wish Aero had this!

Perhaps something from Red Wing. The Chelsea or Iron Ranger or Gentleman Traveler aka Beckman are all worth a look.

Ariat makes a good boot. The Sierra work boots are very nice, pull-on boots and very comfortable. I have two pair and I like them a lot.

For comfort and durability I would say red wing is the best bet. Wesco makes great stuff especially their custom line, but the prices sky rocket and unless you go custom you dont have many options.

Check out Red Wing, youll be glad you did.

best boot

I think its hard to beat the 16" Westco lineman's boot. Unless its the 18" Westco Lineman boot...

Nice on a vintage motorcycle.

Those boys make some nice boots, but they are a little pricey.

I love my Timberland Boot Company counterpane boot. It's actually a splinter company from Timberland. The suede part of the uppers are sourced from CF Stead in the UK, and the leather bits come from none other than Horween!

I've got to say that before I owned a pair of White's boots I never thought this mixture of extreme ruggedness and comfort was possible. They continue to amaze me and now I've got three pairs of them in varying degrees of ruggedness vs. elegance, but never uncomfortable.

I just saw these on another site - 1000 Mile Boot from Wolverine. Made in the U.S.A. with Horween leather. Doesn't look like they're available yet.

They are not available until late October and then only through retailers such as Nortstroms and Nieman's. I called the local Nordstrom's and they had no idea what I was asking about.

Earlier this summer I bought a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers and I have been surprised how much I like them. They are becoming my favorite boots. Much more comfortable than I anticipated.

Danner also makes some boots which are said to be quite comfortable, many of their styles are still made in the U.S.

I must confess, I can't get these Wolverine boots out of my head. I like the Darby style as well as the Burton and Montgomery styles (from the Garrison section). I'm not sure if all the styles aren't available yet, or only some of them. I don't see prices on these. Great find.

Looks like you can get them now at Scoop NYC. See the comments section of the post. $325 retail. More than Red Wings but not bad.
