Sat down for 3 hours the other day and sorted buttons out of a large tin. Now to figure out what I have. I even have a button book but it is so hard. This thread helps.

I unpacked the last of my things, and I cleaned my shadow boxes. I went through all my buttons (mmm fun!) and got some of my older and more collectable button cards.

I absolutely love this thread!!
I wish i had my buttom boxes here ( i left them at my man´s in Holland)
They are from my grandmother, she is very fond of sewing and knitting and for years has been putting them in big black bags.
When i left UK, i declutted her house and brought all the bags with me, i have sorted some of them out but they are too many.
Now they are resting by colors in few large cookies tins mixed with necklaced beads.
On top, i also have been buying myself some more from Etsy.
I often joke that i have a buttoms supply for life!!

You can really say I love buttons toolol

Does anyone know where to find really small half ball buttons for covering? I need a size 14, and the smallest I have been able to find is a 16.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure they don't exist any more :( I have been to all the best notion shops in the city and spent the majority of my work day scouring google, ebay, etsy, anything I could think of. I think I am going to have to rip out the other 9 buttons and replace all of them because I can't match 1. So annoying!

Alas, tiny covered buttons seem to be hard to find. Especially if you need a particular shape.

Sixsexsix, have you tried looking for buttons with the inch measurement, instead of the size? Especially on Ebay/Etsy, people might not bother to list the size when the inch measurement is right there.

yup, tried by button size (ligne), metric size (mm) and imperial size (inches). i just ended up buying some size 14 mother of pearl shank buttons and replacing them all as I want to wear the dress tomorrow. bummer!

Ive always LOVED the graphics on hook and eye and snap fastener cards. Here are some I just got around to photographing.
