He'd been a barber for a long time, and collected old ads and odds and ends related to his profession. One of the ads was for "Pin Curlies," and I've always wondered if I could find some on ebay or some such. You'll never guess what they were... Spoolies! If I had to guess, the ad dated from the late 40s or early 50s. I never thought in a million years I'd see them again. Neat!

I have a few of these that were my grandmothers and I LOVE them. I need to get more and varying sizes. I dont do my hair vintage everyday, but for shows it comes in handy (I like finger waves so much I may wear them more often though)
I finger waved the hair then used the clamp to hold it while it dried and I waved the rest.
