Thanks for sharing those awesome pictures. What a way to travel. I especially like the pictures of NAS Lakehurst. I was there a year ago visiting a friend of mine that was the Air Operations Officer. The size of Hangar Number One is massive and that is an understatement. Because it is a historical landmark, the paint scheme can’t be changed. So, it still looks the way it does in these pictures.

Some nice video clips of the flight, thought I add them. I found them while I was searching for airship travel in general.
Ps. does someone know maybe a nice book about this topic? I am looking for something like a novel or a report/diary about this.

I would love it if someone made an airship now. They only filled them with hydrogen because the USA tied up all the helium and wouldnt let Germany get hold of any. If they made a helium version now it would be a wonderful way to travel, even if not so fast as a massive jet..... I like to think I would revel in the sedate pace and wonderful view.

I get a very real sense of the flight and the time period from these pictures. As usual, I try to place myself there to determine if the feel of it would be the same as a similar event today. And once again I come away with the idea that today would be missing that novelty and wonder that makes new things so special.

Lady Grace made many such trips with her ever-present companion and fellow journalist, Karl Henry von Wiegand (who got the first interview with Kaiser Wilhelm on the oubreak of WWI). Here they are in 1930, in the smoking lounge in the bow of the Dornier Do X.

And again, in the control cab of the Graf in '29.
