    Howard Hughes Stratoliner

I was at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola a couple years ago. They have a fully restored plane that had once been parked in a playground and filled with concrete.

Four wives? Four hats? Four goats?

    Beater Brotherhood

Those hats were up on ebay not once, but twice! And with an opening bid of $30! Are they up a third time now?

    Question on vintage hat stretchers

Do you own one? I'm trying to figure out how it works. And how wide is it?

    Question on vintage hat stretchers

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to know. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270019397503 And under $24 with s&h. I have a new Borsalino that is too tight. I'm not too optimistic, but I'll report back with the results. Another hat is on the way that I expect to be...

Borsalino Dating: Just the Facts, Ma'am

Who cares what some people say? Capture that information for posterity. It would be great to do it on video. It would be better to capture the process of him making a hat on video.

    Question on vintage hat stretchers

I'm considering buying a vintage hat stretcher off ebay, but I have a few questions. Most have a number on the body (e.g. 6 1/2, 6 3/4, 7). Is this the starting size or the finishing size? I have a 7 1/8 hat that I want to stretch to 7 1/4. Can I buy a 7 and open it far enough? Do I...

Should Hat be Worn in the Rain?

I did not know that. But I'm sure it will stick in my head with all the other useless information.

    Stratoliner Box

If you store it on it's side wouldn't you get an uneven hat? The bottom side would have more curve than the top.

    New Borsalino arrival

I think I bid on that one. It looked like a nice fixer-up project. Can't wait to see photos.

    new hat (pictues added)

It's my size. If it sat any lower it would be on my ears. I may relist it as I don't see me wearing it much. And it was a compulsive buy.

Is anyone here good at dating a Knox? Just curious when this hat was made.

    The "Adventure Ready" Panama?

Well I know it's not actually from Montecristi now. He just responded to an email. "$12 for shipping and $10 for blocking" I wonder what he would say if I offered to swing by Gainsville and pickthe hat up.

    The "Adventure Ready" Panama?

I don't remember if it was the same guy who sells them currently as oakleyboy782. I would buy one of his for $6, but I have a feeling the shipping is outragous. He didn't respond to my question about shipping.

    Does anyone know ...

It looks simple enough. You could probably pick up both parts at a hardware store. If I get bored this week I may try to make one myself. That's a handy looking tool.

    new hat (pictues added)

BTW, it's roughly 4.5 inch crown, 2 inch ribbon, and 1.75 inch brim. The color is slightly darker brown than the pics on the box. Under the sweatband is a tag with: Oval REG To Duplicate TD 39500 Block 334 Size 7 1/4

    new hat (pictues added)

I expected the comments to be more along the lines of "I never would have bid on a hat with such a bad description." Here's what I got yesterday: A pretty tight curl on the back of the brim. Is Knox Premier an upper shelf Knox? I like the store names stamped on the...

    The "Adventure Ready" Panama?

I wore my Montecristi last weekend in Destin, and my hair was soaked after walking around awhile. It really doesn't exchange heat that well. Awhile back I bought one of those cheap Panamas that comes rolled in the balsa box from ebay. I had the idea of putting a cloth sweatband and hatband...

    Indochine Borsalino
