I said I like living on the edge in another post. I took a big chance and bought a hat that arrived yesterday.

You can ponder on that, and I will post pictures tonight.
I was thinking that that much individualism would not be tolerated in today's military. But look at the white hat of ten defferent sailors, and you will see at least five different styles of shaping.
I spent 150 Euro (about $150 at the time) on a new Borsalino three years ago. Would I trade it in on $150 worth of vintage hats today? You bet I would. I have only spent less than twice that on five nice hats. At least I hope the last two are nice since I haven't seen them yet.
A size 7, eh? Interested in a very nice Borsalino Milan straw with a loose sweatband?
Anyway, these are some great hats you found. And some great buys too.
From what I have seen/believe to be true the straw is woven into a strip that is then sewn into a spiral in the shape of a hat. Imagine laying a strip of cloth on the desk, working it into a flat spiral, and sewing one continuous seam through the overlapping edges. I hope that's not too...
I like living on the edge.
It was listed with a Buy it Now price of $30, and I chose to take it before someone else could get it first.
My size is 7 1/4 so this hat is two sizes too small.
I have noticed a lot of hats on ebay recently with one picture, too short description, and no...
The sweatband itself is in great shape. The thread holding it in is shot. Everything is perfect except that and the sweat stain.
I wouldn't blame the seller for not wanting to take it back due to the now partially detached sweatband. And if they don't know enought to measure the inside...
My Borsalino straw hat arrived today.

The good news is that it's in great shape as described. The straw is a little darker than in the pictures, and there is a small sweat stain on the crown. The scarf hatband is a very light...
The liner looks exactly like my last Borsalino. Mine has the silk-like piece, brown sweatband and blue/white tag without Eulan Bayer. It is really nice felt.
Photobucket is blocked by the firewall at work so I can't see the photos until I get home. I have had luck standing back and zooming in for pictures of my hats. They are less blurry and the flash doesn't wash out. I can't see your pictures so I don't know if that is why they didn't turn out well.
