The "bad penny" is back :) Thanks my lid brethren for the emails and posts wondering about me. Been laying low. As Mr. Paladin stated, it was, indeed, my health.
I have had congestive heart failure for about 8-9 years now. Once in awhile it raises it's ugly head and I get wiped out...
Roninjedi, I'd like to welcome you to the Fedora Lounge. What a great choice that Fed on your head is :eusa_clap
Yesterday, I wore my Fed IV Heritage Fawn. But today, it was a bit warmer (close to 90F) and I took my pair of beagles out for a swim in a nearby creek and to run around the...
Plastic, though being around since 1855, is a modern hat material.
This is what the younger generation of leprechauns wear given the wet weather.
And when I wear my Akburas, while perhaps not "dapper", I have noted that no one tries to take my milk money at recess.

Hampton, Homburg, Bogart, Fed IV, Fed IV, Barmah
Thread reminded me of a guy a few months ago that said “my dad told me to never trust a man in a black hat”.
My reply, “my dad told me to never talk to strangers”. Think I posted the same in the “comments” thread. But, what...
Thank you MemphisLawyer....
The Hampton is 4.25" at the front and 4.0" at the rear.
My Federations are 4.25" at the front and 3.75" at the rear.
I do not have a Stylemaster. My noggin seems to do better in non-taper.
So, what did you end up deciding upon?
Last night, my daughter, fourth year university, said she saw a plaid fedroa she liked. Immediately thought of this thead and Blackthorn since my kid lives out his way and may have seen of "one of those" :eusa_doh:
I promptly gave her my first Akubra Hampton (ordered too small for...
Thank you E.T.,
That was my first Federation. The Dark Brown Deluxe. Still in The Goose Trinity, indeed.
As much as I like the Carbon, I migrate to that Dark Brown more than any other of all six shades in my Fed IV Fleet.
Triple F, my quest now is for a straw Homburg...I've seen one...
If it makes you happy
It can't be that bad
If it makes you happy
Then why the hell are you so sad?
"I wear what I want, when I want." Ditto. But my mom dresses me funny.
Worn Panama hats in the rain in Hawai'i and today, being summer, I wore my Federation IV Carbon. But, it never...
Three of my favorite hats are Akubra lids. Two of those three are Federation IV's. And, they happen to be the Dark Brown and Moonstone.
Someday, when I get over my thin ribbon complex, I may order a Campdraft...until then; I'd put Fed on my head.
Hey! We don't knock your Vegemite, beetroot on burgers, piefloaters, or Skippy Meat...so lay off our shirts...especially
since many we wear are worn with lids from Down Under ;) lol
Well, maybe some shirts should be banned. Here's my contender with an AKUBRA:
I don't have a bowler. And the Akubra is sold, open crown, as a "Homburg".
Not having a bowler, I cannot speak to the rigidity of such. So, in line with what dhermann1 typed, I would get a bowler if you want a bowler. And, a Homburg if you want a Homburg.
No one here is going to talk you...
My Akubra Homburg has no problem going back and forth.
I wear it as a Homburg. But it has no problem at all trying to back to the dome it was shipped as. Stubborn bunny fur ;)
. . .
Your mileage may vary. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear. Don't run with scissors.
Yep. And that would include me. A Homburg or Top. So, for me, a Homburg. While I wear a fedora even when I dress down, I wouldn't wear a fedora with a tuxedo.
Tonight, after some pasta crud for dinner with NO meat, I decided it was time for a snack. Still hungry at 10:30PM Pacific. Put on my Federation IV Carbon and hit the grill with a couple of Schwan's Corn Dogs.
Wife didn't say a word. Just looked at me kine gooofy. Hmmm...nothing seems to...
Always thought you were a bit on the knotty side :)
Sometimes one ear is lower than the other. My barber will tell ya that about me.
But, in Gene's case, he's just knotty :p lol
