    20's/30's contrasting trousers

I'm guessing a solid flannel would be better than worsted fabrics, herringbone, etc?

    20's/30's contrasting trousers

Ouch. Yeah, I don't quite understand the modern world's obsession with soft suiting fabrics. Sure it feels nice on your fingers, but I always feel such stuff is better suited to a blanket than a suit. Give me the sturdy vintage stuff any day.

    Matt Deckard Apparel Shirts

Has anyone bought any of the shirts from Matt Deckard's line? Do you know if they're still selling? The Paypal link on his site is still active.

    20's/30's contrasting trousers

Thanks everyone! HBK, I know just the sort of fancy striped cream pants your talking about. I've seen a few vintage examples lately but sadly none in my size in wearable condition. Rabbit, thanks for the lowdown on the cashmere. In my search for fabrics I've come across a lot of...

    20's/30's contrasting trousers

I've recently gotten some 1920's and 30's jackets that would go well with contrasting trousers. I'm thinking of having a pair of 1920's trousers copied, once in cream and again in light gray for a second pair. For the cream, flannel of course, but what about the gray pants? I've seen many...

    The Vintage Tailoring Thread

Wow, love those Huddersfield designs, but the light weight and "high twist" sound a bit modern for me. Fox is probably the way to go as you say.

    1920s suits

Was watching Fritz Lang's "Dr. Mabuse the Gambler", made in Germany in 1922. I really love the suits in this, especially the slim-cut model worn by the prosecutor, the hero of the picture. ...and the titular villain in a great suit with a more casual air to it

    Suits - Pre 1920

Oh hey I met him! I'd recognize that jacket anywhere. It's fantastic!

Darcy detachable collars - Washable Vs. Starched?

Sorry for the late response. I definitely have to make sure I get the tie firmly up in the collar so it doesn't show. I bought several 1920s ties and 1930s ties recently and now those are all I wear. Frankly I hate modern ties and will stick with vintage or equivalent reproductions from now on...

Darcy detachable collars - Washable Vs. Starched?

There's a specialty dry cleaner here in Pasadena said to be the only American cleaners who will properly starch stiff collars. I took my one stiff collar to them. When I got it back from them it was flat and soft, no better than if I had put it in the wash and exposed it to minimal spray starch...

Really fantastic! Also love the ties you made and posted earlier in this thread. Do you ever sell your work or do commissions?

Tomasso, which old line firms are you referring to? It would be helpful to know about them (even if they end up being too expensive).

    The Vintage Tailoring Thread

I'm hoping to get a 1920's or 30's bespoke suit (still undecided which and what exactly) when and if I can find the right place, and I've turned to this thread for much of my research. A while back fellow lounger Qirrel posted these two fabric links: Fox Brothers: http://www.foxflannel.com/...

    Vintage Fashion Expo

I'm going to the Vintage Fashion Expo in Los Angeles for the first time this week. Weekend tickets are $17, but for $30 the advance tickets will get you in 90 minutes early. To anyone who's been to these before, how quickly does the good stuff sell out? I'm going mainly to look for 1920's-30's...

    Show us their suits

Very nice post, TT. I love the British suits of the late 30's and the 40's. While the US was on the way to ever boxier styles the English were keeping things pretty slick and refined. Good stuff!

    1920s suits

The only one I happen to remember is a Hugo Boss suit I noticed in that style...the others were domestic and I didn't really pay attention to the names. Interestingly, I've been watching a lot of 1920s and 30s Japanese movies and noticed that the styles over there now are often very, very close...

BB Blazer - Pass for 1920s/30s inspired???

Anyone think this could pass for 1920's or early 1930's? The waist suppression looks good, but I can't tell if the waist and button stance are too low. Also, don't know about the shoulders...

    1920s suits

There's been talk on here of how the recent trend in slim-cut suits in the U.S. (awful button stance, horrific wide floppy shoulders, crappy fabrics, etc.) fail to live up to the suits of the 1920's. However, I noticed on a trip that the recent styles in Japan seem to have been based on 1920's...

Modern Products with Vintage Style Packaging

Where'd you see that? That'd be awesome. I always get sick of the abundance of plastic bottles when I'm in Japan? What are they thinking of doing?
