I have a couple of the slide-on ones that I wear virtually anytime I have a tie on. From my experience, different ties produce differently sized knots and the collar bar can be situated in very different spots on the collar depending on which tie I wear or how I tie it, so I've always been...
After several good experiences with Darcy's collars, I got one of their spearpoint collar shirts. It was wonderful except for the fact that it was so incredibly huge wearing it was like putting on a toga. A smaller size wouldn't have worked because the collar was just right. I had to send it...
Other than the wide shoulders (nothing wrong with them just not my style), I love that DB sportcoat. Overall, Cordite's stuff is looking pretty good. My question, though, is how high are the armholes?
Can anyone with experience with white shirts from Luxire recommend a white fabric of theirs that would be good for a vintage-style spearpoint collar shirt?
Thanks!
Is a more or less straight-sided 5 1/2" open crown fedora sufficiently 1930's-esque or does the extra 1/4" of a 5 3/4" open crown really make a huge difference?
For a late 1920's/early 1930's style fedora (measuring 6" open crown) what do you guys recommend, a 2 3/8" brim or 2 1/2" brim? I've heard both measurements quoted for this error on here. Does the 1/8" really make much of a difference?
I'm so glad someone else has noticed this. It drives me insane. I don't know about other denominations, but I'm also Catholic and I've noticed the exact same phenomenon at many churches here in Southern California and it boggles my mind. Add the to list an obscene number of baggy trousers hemmed...
Recently watched "The Rocketeer" and it definitely exceeded expectations. It reminded me of how much I love 1930's adventure movies, so I looked for more. Came across "Too Hot to Handle" with Clark Gable and Myrna Loy. Just watched it and LOVED it! Lately I've been watching a lot of the heavier...
I need to pick up a pair of suspenders, but I've always seen too different types. There's the sort with two leather straps at each end that form a sort of Y shape, like so: http://www.darcyclothing.com/shop/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/b/r/br734l.jpg...
Holy smokes! Congratulations! What size is it? If it doesn't fit you I will gladly take it off your hands for much more than you paid for it. If all goes well with it, enjoy! It's beautiful! Definitely post photos of it.
I've put down a deposit on a dove gray late twenties early thirties style high crown snap brim fedora. For that era and style what do you guys recommend: welted or raw edge brim? I can't decide.
It's taken trying on a lot of different vintage jackets to start educating myself about proper fit and style after being previously exposed to modern junk. Still a little shaky, finally getting the hang of the right way with some experience and help from all you fine folks on here. Thanks guys...
Thanks for the help guys! I actually like the look of the jacket and vest with the vintage gray trousers I found.
I guess now my only concern is, is it too long for a thirties jacket? The jacket ends just at the bottom of my thumb and a little above the bottom of my rear end. What do you...
I probably should have added that one of the jackets is a 30s SB navy jacket with cream/greyish stripes and a matching vest. Is it acceptable to do this if the jacket and vest are striped?
