I've been recently introduced to Talisker and must admit that it grew on me VERY fast. I tried the 10yr, hesitantly, when I was informed, at a bar, that they were out of Oban.
Bought a box of Gurkha G5 today. A very nice maduro, earthy and peppery with a very smooth overall flavor, excellent appearance and easy draw/lighting.
JdN Fuerte. This smoke is growing on me, has much of the flavor of the antano and dc, but much milder and some other hints of flavor as well.
Got a new every day lighter for $15, a lotus double torch with a punch built in. Not the best lighter by any means, but not bad at all for $15. Also...
JdN Fuerte.
Bob, give a fuerte a try, they have a lot of the flavor without all the strength of the corojo. They're pretty cheap as well, I'll probably be grabbing another box or two.
Gurkha Symphony. Quite a nice smoke overall.
Anyone try the 'make me an offer' feature on CI? How low does he typically go? I think I'm gonna go through that section next week and make a few hundred $$ worth of offers and see what happens. Hmmm, maybe one of those offers needs to be on...
It was excellent, strong, but excellent...
This one has been sitting in my humidor for ~3 months with no real mellowing. I think you'd probably have to keep em buried in the back for quite some time to settle it down. A neighbor was out smoking with me and had to leave, just the smoke off of...
Heads up to anyone near a tuesday morning store:
All of the ones near me have gotten a lot of pens in. Mostly 'Retro 51' brand, the one I bought is a decent pen and only $10, but there are some Parkers and the like...
JdN Dark Corojo with a Sam Adams while finishing some work, sitting on the porch.
Gurkha isn't the best, but I grab them when I see them on sale. The gorge fest on CI has em for $3 each in 5 packs. I'm not sure I'd pay the $8-13 each, but at $3 it's hard to beat. I might have a Triple Ligero...
Wow, it goes downhill fast with cigars, lol. I ended up buying a bundle of JdN Fuerte, half a dozen of the Gurkha gorge fest 5 packs and a box of Nubs. Should be here Wednesday, I can't wait...
All of mine has come from auctions, estate sales or thrift shops (got a set of very thick Rosenthal high ball glasses for $2 each, that I love and use quite frequently, from a thrift) I've paid as low as $5 per for brand new Tiffany and $10 per for brand new Waterford at auctions...
I still use Kiehl's Lite Flite for the brush...
I picked up a Thomas Turner Diamond Edge Razor in an auction lot last night for $7.50 (got some other neat stuff as well) It needs a little restoration (scales are fine, blade has minor surface rust) and a quick hone, but in overall nice shape...
I'm about to light up a Gurkha Gran Reserve. I've got a CI order qeue'd up and ready to place, just gonna think on what I'm ordering a little longer. A bundle+5 JdN Fuerte's 3 of the $15-5 packs of Gurkha, Triple Ligero, Gold and Symphony and of course, I made the order just enough to qualify...
A guy down the street was doing a shoot for a local magazine. It's a 'most eligible bachelor' shoot with a vintage safari theme so he called me and asked to borrow my truck for the day. Obviously, I obliged. He also borrowed my Win 94 and my Indy hat. He took a few shots of me with my truck...
