Me and my SO walked in to a fast food place on Saturday that is run by some latino gentlemen. Now I am sure these guys were in the party mood it being CInquo de Mayo and all, but we when both walked in wearing our fedoras (my brown Optimo and his black Borsalino) the man behind the counter let...
Even though this is a hat question I thought it would be best to post over here. I'm looking for a milliner, preferably in the Chicago area, who does custom work with felt hats. Do you ladies have any suggestions?
This is a Disney Lancer I just sold in the classified section, but brought to you by popular demand! Its 7 1/2 or I would have hung on to it. The felt was so soft and it was in great condition.
For sale one black Disney Lancer great condition size 7 1/2.
Brim 1 3/4"
ribbon is 2"
crown is 4 3/4"
inside width 7"
inside length 8 1/4"
no moth holes or blemishes. The sweatband is open at the back possibly to allow more headroom for the wearer. The felt quality is very good and it looks...
why do you think it takes so long to shop? there is usually no regularity of size and the amount of styles can be daunting or even bordering on ridiculous. Personally I prefer a mens' styles, but I do have some nice ladies' cloche hats and unisex hats that I've really just stumbled upon. Thats...
Our liquor collection
Aerial view:
I think my favorites out of this group for now are the Hennessy XO, Glenrothes and Isle of Jura, although the Apple brandy is also quite good.
and just for a change of pace, our fridge:

I love jazz and being in Chicago I get lots of great exposure to it.
Currently my favorite jazz musicians are Keith Jarrett (solo and Trio), Dave Holland (Quintet and Big Band), Kenny Wheeler and Bill Evans. I am also a fan of Miles Davis and Coltrane when I'm in the mood ;)
For vocals there...
My weekend hat
It was just made for this weekend!
My Borsalino
the felt is nice and thick which really helps because once again flurries were flying through the air up here in frozen chi-town.
I've finally gotten around to reading Hatless Jack by Neil Steinberg. So far there is much on Kennedy, not too much on hats. I hope that changes because the reason I bought it was to read up on the history of hats in the US!
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all! I hope everyone has a good one and don't forget to drink some green beer! Or just beer really. Thats the important thing ;)
i particularly love how every "fedora" hat absolutely needs to carry the words "pimp" "gangster" "blues brothers" and/or "indiana jones" in the subject line. [huh] It would be great if that line was used for more useful descriptions!
I would love a forum about music from the golden era-jazz, big band, swing and everything in between! And we should not sell classical music short either.
I also love the literature and art forum suggestion. And the goings on about town idea too!
