I want to re-block at home: need some help

You're going to have a really hard time going up two sizes on a one piece block, be it wood or plastic. You pretty well need to do it on a split dome stretcher block, that has a size guage. (They're usually aluminum.) You don't have to remove the sweatband, but if you don't want to cry over a...

    Dark felt after sanding...

It sounds like the surface felt might have lightened due to sun bleaching and/or oxidation. The remedy , therefore would be to sand the rest of the hat. :)

    Stetson Temples vs Rain

I know of no reason not to snap the brim down. I was just mentioning that my brim seems to hold its shape better if alloowed to dry in the "down all around" position. After it's dry, I wear it up in back and down in front.. :)

    Stetson Temples vs Rain

I've designated a Stetson Temple, in Sage, as my rain hat, for going on two years, now. After a light rain, I wait till it dries, then give the felt a light brushing with a clean white handkerchief. If it needs more I use an old toothbrush. I found the "rain spots" to be mostly a change in the...

    What brim sizes are these...?

In my experience, brim widths and lapel widths were usually directly related to each other (wide brims with wide lapels). Since this is not the case in your picture, it would be before 1948 (the year I was born). Since there are so many draft age men in the photo, it would be before World War II...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

My wife has one of the original 1984 Stetson Indiana Jones (wool) hats, reputedly given to a bus driver by Harrison Ford, himself. Your Borsalino had to be the model for that hat. Stetson later widened the brim, for a "broader appeal. I'm used to it, by now, and actually find the dimensions...

I've seen more than one Knox, but this is my first Charles Knox. Two tone bow. Tasteful, if tiny, pin. Liner. The paper tag looks HATCO, but from the price, I'd guess a few years ago. I kind of like it.

Smoky the bear...is that what he's called?

The second paragraph of the Wikipedia article is especially enlightening: Smokey Bear From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Smokey's correct full name is Smokey Bear. In 1952, the songwriters Steve Nelson and Jack Rollins had a hit with "Smokey the Bear". The pair said that "the" was...
