I have not seen this blog mentioned on the lounge, but with their daily posting of pictures and stories of famous people from the 1940's-60's it is a must see for fans of The Golden Era.

The full triler to the upcoming Goon movie has been released and I just can't wait. :D
One part EC Horror, one part Film Noir and one part Preston Sturges comedy, The Goon is the story of a former circus strong man and his sidekick "Frankie" who run the friendly neighborhood protection...
I was surfing around today and ran across a web sale advertising a Harris Tweed sportcoat for $198.00
I have no experience with this company, so I can not vouch for them but at that price I thought the Lounge would need to know.
Hilarious blog post comparing Babylon 5 and Doctor Who with "the History Channel and all their programs on the so-called "World War II".

You Loungers from Down Under probably know all about Splayds, but it was a revelation to me. I picked these up on eBay last week:
Invented in Australia in the late 1940's Splayds are still sold new although the design appears to have been changed slightly.
I think that these are from...
Help! I'm taking this jacket on a trip this weekend.
The question is, black or brown accessories? To me, the jacket is gray/green in color, but the label calls it "Olive Brown". I was going to pack black shoes and belt, but now that I look at it I may need brown. Please give me your opinions...
Variety is reporting that there is a new Doc Savage movie in development. This coupled with the recent pulp reprints and upcoming DC Comics series show a serious upswing of interest in the character. Let's hope Doc fares better in the 2010s than he has in comics and movies in the past.
I got this link from io9 today and I thought folks here would be interested. It is a selection of photographs from the U.S. Records of the Women's Bureau contains images depicting women and their contributions to the war effort during World War II.

Hey all,
I was watching Dark City again this weekend and was very impressed by the hat worn by William Hurt's character "Inspector Bumstead".

It looks like a wider brimmed Akubra Federation (maybe 3 in?), which considering that the movie was filmed in Australia would not be...
I stopped into my favorite coffee shop this week (Trabant coffee & chai, where the 16oz latte always has 4 shots :) ) and the barista was wearing this very cool burlap trilby. I asked if I could grab some pics and post them:
It was obviously made from a packing sack. It has parts the...
The BBC has revealed the costume of new Doctor Who, Matt Smith, for the 2010 series.
An interesting look, but there is something strange going on at the shirt cuff. More info and pictures here and here.
Hello all!
I recently received a NOS Adams Porkpie from Jhonnyphi. I love the look of a porkpie hat, but in this case I think that my face is a little too long to pull it off. My wife however has completely fallen in love with it and wants it for her very own. In order to keep domestic...
Has your hat ever got you into a fight?
I'm walking down the street yesterday when I see two guys and and girl walking my way, laughing, shouting, and doing what two guys and girl do. They were in their early 20's at the most and the way they were acting were probably in the "Big City" for a...
Today the Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper has issued it's final print edition. The paper will now transition to a web-only or digital distribution model in an attempt to survive the 21st century.
As part of it's historic retrospective, seattlepi.com has posted a number of photo galleries...
Hey all,
So, after watching Noir movies for a week at the Seattle Noir City festival, I'm more anxious than ever to get a vintage styled suit. I really want something in a late 40's style, but not necessarily a double-breasted, peak lapel, business outfit. I want something more working class...
I've been looking through the archives, but I can't seem to find the specific answer I'm looking for.
I have always worn size 7 3/8 and 7 1/2 hats, but recently I picked up a true 7 1/2 Long Oval (thanks johnnyphi!) and it fit me better than any hat I have ever worn. Looks like I'm one of the...
