Big man = big hat. Get a tall crown and med. to wide brim. The width you have is fine, a bit wider would be good too.

As for the goatee- looks good to me. I say go with whatever makes you comfortable.

I was a 2 1/2 brim guy and Art suggested 2 3/4 after seeing some pics. I gave one a try and now most of my hats are 2 3/4. I still like the 2 1/2 depending on the style, so mine are split..

I see you are gong to trim the goat, I would have voted for that also.....:D

Congrats, Isaac! Getting a new VS hat, let alone two of them, is always a special treat - even more so for your first order.

This is my first VS hat. Blue Smoke with a Charcoal Band and Gray Accent. Teardrop Crown. A hat that finally fits me. I cant wait to receive my second hat. My sister said that it is the best looking hat I own. Forgive the photo setup, as there is a jar of coins holding it up.

After a number of conversations with Art, testing his patience answering questions, we came up with a hat that I’m very happy with.

All of my custom hats previously have been panamas, and I love to wear them, but this year I’m impatient for the weather to cool so I can wear my new VS.

This hat is basically the Anasazi with a couple of changes. The felt is Sahara with a
2 5/8” brim bound with matching ribbon, the crown ribbon is 16 ligne brown.

I had thought that I wanted a center dent, but went with the diamond crease and I’m glad that I did.

Now, the only problem is, what is next. I really like the Sportaire; I just have to decide which felt and ribbon colors.

Nice hat Isaac. I also own a VS in blue smoke and I love it.
BR Gordon, love that fedora! Great choice in colors! Really does look vintage.

Cliff, I'm afraid I've already discovered that they're addictive.

Johnny J, thanks for the nice comments. With my size 71/2, I think that these are as close as I'm going to get to vintage.

Just received my VS Sammy D. I was debating btwn Blue Smoke and Pecan. Chose the Blue Smoke and glad I did. WOW what a great color.

Art said he hurt his hand and wasn't able to work for a few days. He should consider insuring his hands like Betty Grable did those gams!

I hate to ask this, in fear of a mad dash for the hat. But I have scanned through almost every post here and have not seen anything in relation to the Mac B. I am really thinking it might be my next hat. Does anyone have any experience with it or have actual pictures other than from Art's site?

Isaac, I don't have a Mac B, but I did ask Art to borrow that ribbon idea for a hat he made for me. I'm very pleased with the result:

I thought I'd finally make a post on this forum with my very first VS. Thanks again Art, it exceeds my wildest expectations!
