Breeches? Why not ask Theodoros where he got them from?
I do not want to bother someone I do not know just like that. And there I thought, if here anyway the specialists read along... ;)

But thanks for "breeches". That helps. Now I have something to read

Is it OK to turn a leather jacket inside out, including sleeves, to wipe down the lining? I seem to recall seeing people do this.

Not an easy task on stiff jackets but I do it all the time without any problems.

I find used jackets usually have a lot of dust and crumbs and dirt between the shell and liner, but there is always a small hole somewhere to vacuum them out. The main culprit for smells those dusty crumbs.

Where can I get a decently priced Sam Browne belt to fit a CHP? Only spent $200 on the jacket, so I'm not looking to break the bank on it. Anyone have a used one kicking around or a lead on a cheaper one?

I don't want or need the shoulder strap, that's too deep into LARP territory. The jacket has belt loops so I feel like for the sake of completion I wouldn't mind something to run through it.

Don Hume belts are nice. I like them. Under $100 if on sale. These bad boys need work to break them in.

Gals makes one for under $50/60 bucks. Thereabouts.

I would search through police gear sites and look for sales. Make sure they are leather variants, assuming that’s what you want.

After some thought, I may keep an eye out for a second hand belt on ebay or the like. I don't think I'd like the incongruous look of an old jacket with a brand spanking new belt.

Heard them being called both breeches and jodhpur pants, with everything from lace, zip and button closings at the bottom. Very cool!
Definitely cool and very extravagant. With Theodoros they look good, with other examples that I had googled today, partly less.
I think it depends very much on the details.
Whether I would really wear something like that? I'm not sure yet. Maybe in a more modern form? At the time I thought it was good. Maybe I let one of my cargo pants make the legs tighter and provided with zippers. Let's see ;)

I saw some worn over the shoes, rather than tucked into some tall boots. Still looks good, and I think I prefer it like that.

Freewheelers has some nice ones I like, but as Freewheelers goes, quite expensive. Here's a "Leathertogs" branded one, not sure if it's a reproduction, because the "Leathertogs" Speed Master cafe racer being worn in the same photo is inspired by "what they think a cafe racer would look like if made by Leathertogs"

Bronson also has some in a similar-ish style for cheaper but haven't tried those. https://bronsonshop.com/products/no...-troop-rugged-breeches?variant=21273623330875

I really like the laced ones, zipper ones vaguely remind me of the Fear of God pants that got popular in 2016... I still dig them but I like the laced ones just a bit better.

Some real vintage US army ones from the 1910s, right up my alley.

I'm in the same boat as you, I think they look cool, still yet to get a pair to try. Wonder if it will feel natural, or maybe a touch costumey? I gotta get a pair to find out.

Exactly the point. I think it's a very fine line between looking cool and good and looking costumey. Unfortunately, there is nothing in my area to try on and buy on spec is too expensive for me. The pants posted by Marc I would otherwise try on. I would wear such pants with my Moc Toes or Palladium. Pants not over the shoes but also not underneath. Kind of like one of the cargo pants. I'll have to take a picture.

Zipper question:

I am loving my newly acquired vintage Windward halfbelt but I can tell the zipper is not long for this world—the bottom starter tooth is about half off the cloth tape.

Can anyone recommend a place in NYC to supply and install a new zipper? Is this the kind of repair the corner dry cleaners can do or does it need a specialist?

The original is surprisingly fine toothed 20” long zipper and says CONMAR.

Thanks!

Got a few busted seams on a jacket, but I have little sewing experience, none with leather. I assume you need some special needles to work with leather. Should I just take this to a tailor that works with leather? I don't have any great pictures of the issues right now.

When and why did denim jackets begin to be made with a longer cut? I ask because I have always preferred the "vintage" cut of older Wranglers, Mavericks, etc. that tend to sit above the rear. It seems most denim jackets being made today, aside from dedicated repro brands, generally sit at least halfway down the rear
