They do look cool, but I don't have any right now. I used to have a tweed cap from Land's End, it had two flaps that snapped over the top of the cap, and they could be fastened around the chin when I wore it in my MG Midget. The cap and the Midget are long gone.

I see Duane has something similar on his website, I may get one if I ever get another roadster.

You are so correct about the prices.On ebay and at Goodwill,etc. A fraction of the price of a new cap(if modern,of course) and usually in good condition.It would be nice to see American men get into wool caps again instead of baseball caps. They are so much classier!!

You said it! I've always thought that the things that kept those baseball caps dominant in men's hats is their adjustability in size, being cheap, and logo ridden. But style seems to have fallen away.

Currently, my hat and cap collections are about equal in number. I have several caps that I rotate, mostly of the "flat cap" variety plus a few eight panels. (I admit to owning a few of the "baseball cap" variety, too.) I have a few tweeds by Hanna Hats of Ireland, a couple of Kangols, and a few miscellaneous others. I agree that they are preferable in the rain plus they have other virtues such as being easier to stow ( I HATE wearing a hat to a restaurant and have nowhere safe to put it) and being easier to store (I can fit several in the space it takes to store a hat). And if someone inadvertently sits on it, well, no harm done. Peace of mind is a good thing.

I have a few tweed caps (with fur lined ear flaps), a couple lightweight cashmere caps and a microfiber rain cap. Oh, and a couple linen caps for summer. I find caps are great for those windy days that make wearing a fedora a bit of a challenge.

I have a couple of Country Gentlemen Ivy's in black and tan. I was walking through the Dillard's in Savannah and they were on sale for $7.00 a piece. I also have a black wool ascot, although I am not sure of the brand.

Hanna Hats anyone?? By far the best cap I've ever worn is made by Hanna Hats of Donegal. Beautiful coarse tweed (also herringbone and patchwork) and a spectacular, clean fit; hard-to-find characteristics in my opinion! Anyways if you like the Irish look this is definitely worth trying!

I Will go with this....I have several of Hanna's hats/caps....including deerstalkers -- two that are custom -- one in dark solid Navy and the other in Harris Tweed (blueish) made from the same Scotish cloth used for my custom made inverness from Mr. Anthony in Scotland. Hanna builds fine hats. Love my Irish Walker's. I also have three cashmire borsalino flat caps, and a load of Tilly's regular and winter hats...plus numerous fedoras -- most custom made. My problem, at times is deciding what to wear -- and I tend to get in a rut and wear the same fedora's over and over. What can I tell you? It is a wild ride for us that enjoy hats! Take care all. From what I've seen, this guy usually buys his merchandise at high prices and ends up making very little profit when he sells the stuff.

I looked at his bid history and saw that he paid just over $100 for a 1950's Stetson in 7 3/4. That's high for sure, but I've never seen a vintage fedora in my size and would have paid even more-at least as much as I might for a custom. Oh well, at least I now know that they do exist...
