Cocktail Cabinets

That's a beauty for sure!

I have seen some modern bars, I think they are called either pocket bars or envelope bars and when you open up the cabinets and the bar top unfolds it becomes about twice the size. The bar top allows for people to come up and be served like a regular "bar."

Right, I can post this now (as auction has ended)

Auction ended a few mins ago. I've been watching and watching this, and could see where in my house I'd have it, but...just too rich for me right now (even though £400 was a very reasonable price for this 30's cabinet). With the extra to transport it to me, well...it just wasn't going to happen, and YES I'm really sad about it too, as it is just gorgeous!! :(

Hey, HO...C'est la vie!! anyway...the glass is still half full ;)

That's a real shame that cabinet is something else - what a beauty!

I'm on the lookout for an Art Deco cabinet - I've seen some here but they are soooooooo expensive - well worth it though!

Each to their own..that's the great thing!

Boy...wouldn't it be boring if we all had a Borg outlook on everything. I actually like the etched glass of popping bottles and shooting stars..etc, it makes me think that when the doors open, well it's coctail time!! (in a party sorta way).
But I've seen some 50's and 60's ones with semil coloured playing cards on the glass and it doesn't do it for me [huh]

The 30's cocktail cabinets are still coming in 'too rich' for my pocket right now, so just being patient and keeping an eye out both online and in the Provinces ;)

Anyone else out there have some nice examples to post...?;)

My little bar:

And open (but before I stocked it)

And of course, I have to have somewhere to keep all the glassware!

And sometimes, other things get accidently stored in there...

BTW, if anyone can estimate dates on those, please let me know!

Approximately 10 to 12 years for the felis domesticus?

On a different note, how about those really cool, huge globes from the 20's and 30's that when opened revealed a hidden bar? I have a couple of friends who have one and they say that they were used during prohibition (bad idea by the way) to hide the fact that you actually had a bar in your house. Does anyone have one of these?
