Wow, good news. I had always meant to get those two Columbia two-disc compilations of this stuff, but I never got around to it. While this complete set might be overkill, there's no question that this material is some mega-fabulous music: Duke's small-group recordings are amazing!

Thanks for the heads up!

Little gems, each one. I'll keep an eye peeled.

Say Doc, as you and I are both in the same neck o' the woods, you may find this interesting:
I once interviewed Mosaic's founder and he said that his best results came not from ads in jazz publications, but in The New Yorker and The New York Times. [huh]

The New Yorker? Yes, The New Yorker.

That doesn't surprise me: Mosaic is a high-end outfit compared to most jazz labels, and its classy product line fits perfectly with the (largely) well-heeled intellectuals who read The New Yorker and The Times.

Personally, I visit their Websites periodically - mostly to keep up on arts stuff - but I don't read 'em voraciously.

Splendid!!

I just came home with the Properbox 25 4-cd set of the Duke's best from 1926-49 and adore the whole thing!!! Would love to have this new release!
Having finally found the 14 cd set of the complete Glenn Miller,i will have to add this set to it.
