Wow, good news. I had always meant to get those two Columbia two-disc compilations of this stuff, but I never got around to it. While this complete set might be overkill, there's no question that this material is some mega-fabulous music: Duke's small-group recordings are amazing!

That doesn't surprise me: Mosaic is a high-end outfit compared to most jazz labels, and its classy product line fits perfectly with the (largely) well-heeled intellectuals who read The New Yorker and The Times.
Personally, I visit their Websites periodically - mostly to keep up on arts stuff - but I don't read 'em voraciously.
I just came home with the Properbox 25 4-cd set of the Duke's best from 1926-49 and adore the whole thing!!! Would love to have this new release!
Having finally found the 14 cd set of the complete Glenn Miller,i will have to add this set to it.
