I’ve offered it to another Lounge member, but if he declines I’ll make it available. Size 7 3/8 so there could be a fist fight or two.

I apologize for swooping you on that Bowler Garrett. I realized too late who I was bidding against and felt bad for my last second snakery.

I promise If it ever heads to the chopping block you have first dibs.

How did you determine it's a Borsalino?

Well, I dunno about Doc's Oviatt's, but this one was pretty obvious:
    IMG_1227.jpg

Looking back over the past several months I'd been growing the hat collection at a rate of about one every three weeks. Been a bit of a dry spell lately as it's been about six weeks since my last, the green Dobbs. I guess a Borsalino makes the wait worth it. Should arrive next week.

The perforated sweatband seems like an odd detail. But it does say made in _______. ??

Well, it says "Made in Italy" (seller says), and so was my other one... I will confirm when I get my hands on the tags.

Alan, Thanks! It's also on the liner. Looks like it could be Italy.

Yes, I though so too. This hat, which Max now owns, was clear cut. I believe Marc Chevalier thought that all of Oviatt's Italian hats following WWII were made by Borsalino.

Well, that didn't take long. Making up for lost time it seems. Stepping out of my comfort zone and took a leap of faith on this straw:
    IMG_1235.jpg

Exchanged a few messages with the seller earlier in the day. Was prepared to walk away as they wouldn't budge on price, but after digging up some history associated with the hatter I decided to take the plunge. I'm a sucker for a story.

Nice one Max. I have not seen many C&K straws.

I knew I would regret it if I didn't buy it. I've been looking at hats every day for over a year, and didn't see one like this one.

Nice weave pattern. I get vertigo looking at it, but that wouldn’t be a problem when wearing it.
