Really? He admitted no such thing to me.

Here’s part of his message to me (other parts were insulting, but seeing the source I didn’t care one bit):

“If I buy a hat or 2 to adds to dads income and it then becomes part of his collection, no harm!
You don't know what it takes to take care of anyone else but yourself. Dads 88 and I'd do anything for him.”

There isn't much to go on, Max. It does remind me of the hats Ottmar Reich produced in the seventies. The felt is always nice enough on these, but the styling is very much of its age (short crown, small brim and a good deal of taper).

Unfortunately, all too common rationale these days that I can do anything I want if it 'is "for a good cause".

Max, It's from a distributor Valentin Schick Mannhiem (see photo). Looks to be later 1960s into 1970s. It's missing the liner. As Stefan said it might have been made by Ottmar Reich for Valentin Schick Mannhiem.

I found a brown Hambletonian. I saw another brown one a couple of months back, but it had a lot of moth damage, so I didn't buy it. This one seems pristine. The seller says there aren't any...
I already have a gray one that turned out to be MacLachlan made! I can't wait.

I love the looks of this hat, Max. Great find!
