Not as old as some but here is Harry Anderson in an interesting Video I came across. I find I learn something new every time I watch him in interviews. Must have been an interesting historian or sorts.

The suit looks like it's from his stint in "4 For Texas" (1963).

Maybe he kept the hat from another film to wear to these "western" events.

Good call! The background in the photo Jared posted above is pretty vague. My guess is they ran into each other on the studio lot during a break in filming and someone saw it as a photo opportunity.

Some of my favorite western hats are Gene Hackmans in The Quick and the Dead. Nathaniels Hatshop in Georgetown recently did one that I admire. I am seriously considering having one made to my measurements in a natural 100% beaver.
