Here is a fantastic Cal Leather, horsehide, angle zip, motorcycle jacket in a smaller size (38ish I think). I just bought it but unfortunately it doesn't quite fit; I had this exact model for many years and foolishly sold it. This jacket has a fantastic distressed patina; perhaps the best I've seen on black horsehide in 30 years of collecting. I bought it from the original owner who had it custom made in 1963 when he was 17 years old and worked at a motorcycle shop on Venice Blvd in Los Angeles. He later owned a nearby Suzuki dealership for 40 years.

This jacket is in fabulous condition. All of the zippers and snaps work. The main zipper is missing the pull but appears to be original; the slash pockets have Conmars with original diamond bell pulls. Both wrist zippers are Talons, but they have different pulls, so one may be a replacement. The original, deep black lining is in near mint condition with no tears. The inside breast pocket has a Cal Leather label. I have found no holes or loose seams. The inside cuffs have fur to keep the wind out. I have treated the jacket with conditioner so it is supple and ready to wear. It also comes with the original fur collar that has never been worn.

Measurements:

Chest, pit to pit: 21"
Shoulders, seam to seam: 19"
Back length: 23 7/8"
Waist: 18" (x 2 = 36")
Sleeve, from shoulder seam: 23"

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am relatively new to this site and this is my first sale posting. But I have been buying and selling on eBay since 1998 with perfect feedback for more than 800 transactions. I will be glad to provide a link to my feedback page upon request.

Price is $750 through Paypal F&F, plus actual shipping/insurance costs from Los Angeles, CA using your choice of carrier and class. If local, you are welcome to come by and see it in person. I am willing to ship internationally, but please note that the jacket is heavy and the cost may be as well. Thanks for looking.

Hello: New sleeve measurements. I had an inquiry and remeasured them as in the attached photos; they are longer than originally stated. In the manner pictured, they appear to be at least 24"; sorry for the previous inaccuracy. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at 323.326.7384 or willingbarkis@gmail.com. Cheers, Bradley

Hello: I'm surprised my jacket isn't' garnering more interest; I would love to keep it if it fit me properly. I've had a couple offers on eBay, but for a little less than I was willing to accept. I'd appreciate any input with respect to why you think the jacket isn't getting more people excited and/or any suggestions to amend the ad such as price/photos/etc. that would make it more enticing. Thanks much and best wishes for a great 2024 to all!

I won't comment much on price other than by saying this - the original price you were looking for is basically right around what you can find an early 1950's 'red label" Cal in good condition, or maybe even not so much less than a 1940's Star Glove (both quite rare on varying levels and highly sought after). Further I would have questions regarding the condition of this jacket. Good luck

Thanks for your input. I've collected vintage motorcycle jackets for 25 years and have a pretty good idea of Los Angeles prices. In the early 1990s there were three stores on Melrose Ave that specialized in them, with the most offensive not even putting prices on the tags! My first was an officer worn, 40s/50s Cal Leather CHP straight zip, button cuff that was amazing; I wish that I had not sold it. The jacket here for sale has an amazing patina for a black jacket; yes, some of the leather is flaking, but that doesn't bother me because the colors are so great.
