Some time after I got my jackets, I started noticing the photos on their website have all changed

This is probably because we complained that they were using Schott pictures to promote their substitute item. I have to give mild props for that.

Unfortunately, looking at the site now, it looks like most of their "Beck" collection is just cheaped out knockoffs of current model Schotts, which is a shame. I know Schott made the Beck jackets, but they'd have different designs for the Schott and Beck versions. These would have genuine collector appeal if they remade the Beck versions instead of copying the modern Schott version.

For instance, their "666" is a copy of Schott's 530 and their "732" is a copy of the 641. The 999 is a copy of a current production 618 rather than a 999.

They could have done a repro of the actual 666 instead. (Photo from John Chapman.)

Yeah, the new photos look like mall jackets. So I wouldn't pull the trigger on any of those now.

The interesting thing is that the three jackets I got are really good. Got 'em all on sale, so only paid $1,770 total. They're supposed to be horsehide. (I don't have any reason to doubt that.) For the price I paid, I'm completely satisfied. Maybe Schott made them. Maybe somebody else, but I think they changed manufacturers sometime after my jackets. They must be ordering their jackets in small batches. Maybe 50-100 at a time? When they run out, they order more. Just too bad the new stuff looks like mall jackets though. Both the style and the leather look different from mine. Leather in the new pics looks kind of cheap.

I am now convinced the jackets are made by Stu. Legendary just got NJ and NY mixed up. Their reluctance to disclose the maker is only due to them being afraid (and rightfully so) that nobody will buy it for lack of manliness.

On a more serious note: the jacket has gotten from hero to zero in the blink of an eye. I am really keen to hearing everybody’s thoughts once the lion is in the den.
Legendary may well be prohibited to disclose the maker of this is a „white label“ run by one of the more prominent addresses.
I can't imagine Stu working for anyone, given his ego. I've got one of his jackets, and what LegendaryUSA peddles now isn't in the same league. Once a great company, I'll never send them another cent.

Too bad if they think anyone hates them and didn't deem them capable enough when actually their clearly misleading advertising and bad communication was the main issue.
If I ever want to buy something from First Mfg. or Schott again it'll probably be direct. Which is too bad because I bought my first Schott from Legendary and thus kinda like them for nostalgic reasons.

Edit: Just saw their Instagram has gone political also. Not surprised about the direction considering the attitudes discussed here.
I have no personal problem with their politics, though admittedly, espousing such opinion is polarizing and highly unprofessional.
They just ****.

Tom was joking, worry not.

The thing is regardless of what the views are, whenever a company puts politics front and center, it’s a sign that they rightly don’t have much faith in the product. It’s a distraction measure dressed up as higher purpose.

LW sells jackets for 3-4 times what Legendary USA is asking. In what world would anyone think it’s possible that LW is making jackets for Legendary?
Yeah, I think there is zero chance that Lost Worlds has anything to do with Legendary USA. When Legendary started making their BECK jackets, it might have been Schott doing the manufacturing. Then they had a falling out. Schott is definitely no longer making the BECK jackets for them.

On the Legendary USA website, it says they make their jackets in California and Florida. https://legendaryusa.com/collections/motorcycle-jackets : "With a flagship store in New Jersey and manufacturing operations in California and Florida, Legendary USA stands for authentic American craftsmanship...."

Wonder who it could be that's making their jackets now? Maybe Hillside? Because Hillside is in Florida, I think. Maybe San Diego Leather in California? Or maybe some small wholesale maker none of us has ever heard of.

Regardless, I'm not ordering any more from Legendary. Their new BECK photos look pretty bad. It's nothing like what it was last year and beginning of this year. I'm convinced they must have changed leather sources and manufacturers.

Yeah, I don't mind buying from a Republican loudmouth, but enough already, they don't have to beat me over the head with the politics. It seems that the worse their products look recently, the more they're beating you over the head with politics.

Exactly. I'm sure everyone has seen them on Instagram. They deal with all the 1% Motorcycle Clubs. It's a motorcycle gear company now. So I gotta give them credit, because you wont ever see a 1%'er wear a Schott cut. Thats facts.
