OK, so how do I research whether I'm bidding against a Lounger?

I can't search by audtion ID, as the search engine only looks at thread postings. The members List is disabled. It appears the only way to see a fellow lounger's ID is to search through the public profiles one at a time.

What am I missing???

Generally, I'm in agreement on that. But occasionally I'm tossing a mental coin on whether to bid or not. If the hat is one of marginal need for me, I don't want to bid up another lounger and I might lay out. OTOH, if I really want it, then I'm going fer it and no apologies.

The original question remains unanswered......

Ah, yes, like the gentlemen we are, and the gentlemen we aspire to be!

Saturday night is usually a good night for auctions; many people are out. ;)

Just be yourself

The ONLY person that I have discussed an item with was Art Fawcett. He and I bid on many things about five years ago. If he wanted something for his hat shop, I would ask if he was gonna bid. He would tell me the amount he was bidding. He usually was well over my comfort zone on the bid. So I wouldn't waste my time jacking up the price of an item I wouldn't win anyway. He won, and I won. And he used the item for work on MY hats. HHHAAHHAHAH.

SO, my answer to the post question: On Ebay, bid what YOU are willing to pay for the item. I have lucked out, and gotten S*** on! My best hat, no one bid on, I got it for the listing price..it's a SILVER BEAVER Vintage McLaughlan.

And my conformature....ha! I stole it on a BUY IT NOW.

Ebay is like a garage sale, it is timing and luck.
