Adam Executive Quality
Natural / Light Tan Felt
4 3/4 Crown as shaped
2 1/2 brim with triple stitched overwelt
2 inch antiqued grosgrain ribbon
Boxcar / Gills ribbon treatment

Had a bit of a hat roulette box arrive including 4 different hats. This one happens to be both one of the nicest and a perfect fit… so it goes first. True to what I’ve come to expect from Adam Hats… it appears to be of excellent quality and fashion. Nearly perfect proportions with the 2 1/2 brim and 4 3/4 crown as shaped… but also trimmed with a triple stitched overwelt on the brim and a lovely 2 inch “gills” boxcar style ribbon. I can only assume the ribbon was originally somewhat felt matching or darker brown… but today it is a bit antiqued/sunbleached giving it a bit of a rust tone to some areas. Its warts are one moth nibble hidden under the brim and unfortunately a bit of dry rot on the sweat as a result I did not get any photos of the manufacturer tag to avoid further damage. All in all one nice hat and well worth what the whole lot cost me.

Joe The Hatter - 144 Rogers Ave
Dark Tan Lightweight Felt
4 1/2 crown as shaped (about 5 1/2 open)
1 5/8 Faded grosgrain ribbon
2 1/4 raw edge brim

Here is the second hat from the hat roulette box. This one is in fact the one that held the most interest for me. But only for a whimsical coincidental connection to me. “Designed and Created” by Joe The Hatter of Brooklyn, NY. OK… so the hat was sold at a store with the same name as me. In addition, the store just so happened to be located at 144 Rogers Ave. As some are aware I once upon a time wrestled professionally as Blare Rogers… “grandson of Nature Boy Buddy Rogers”. So That’s the silly little connection for me and this hat… Joe The Hatter on Rogers Ave. It doesn’t however completely end there though… on the same day I bought this hat, I also came across the most unique piece of Nature Boy Buddy Rogers memorabilia I have seen to date. A Pennsylvania Railroad Good Luck Token commemorating (Na)“TURE BOY BUDDY ROGERS vs KATO”. I believe I was able to match it up with their October 6, 1954 match in Lancaster, PA 10/06 when Buddy Rogers beat Oyama Kato. I knew this would be the perfect adornment for this hat!

The hat has a nice boxy crown and a bunch of character with its sun faded ribbon. I did manage to find under the sweat a dried up and discolored 1950s HCA standardized tag so any mystery is solved on the actual maker even if it oddly was located near the front of the hat. It is unfortunately a bit too large for me. But was easily remedied with a couple felt strips behind the sweat. I originally planned on attaching the token right on to the bow keep but it kinda gives off a hint of “sheriff badge” vibe that way. I found though the token slips nicely behind the ribbon for now. I may attach it more permanently… but I can’t decide if it looks better positioned to the front part of the bow or to the middle/rear of the bow keep. This one I can see being a regular knock around hat for me.

Such cool finds, Joe, especially with all those connections to your good self.

It's a good looking hat. I particularly like the wide ribbon and bow treatment. Looks good on you, too. Congrats.

Got a couple hats in today... First is a Resistol Cattleman 5x.... Got the brim steamed and ironed out so I can work with it. Its definately bigger than I usually wear but Im sure I can do something with it. Right now it looks like something off of a 1970s Charlie Daniels albumn lol Not in bad shape but does have a couple little holes... not sure it its moth larve or hatpins. Clean hat though. A little big to wear with warm weather short sleeve shirts, but come cooler weather and heavier jackets it should be fine. At least its a long oval and fits the head well

This morning we had his first Vet visit... Shots, eval, and microchipping. He was a perfect gentleman to the staff and other animals. From the reaction of the vet techs to him, I wish I was 30 yrs younger.... this little White English Lab is a chick magnet lol

Looks like both the pup and the hat will shape up quite nicely.
