Johann Gärner, Gärner Hüte, "9535U", Back Bow, Under Welt, 57 cm possibly early 1960s. This Form was popular Germany and Austria in the late 1950s into the 1960s. I believe this hat was made by Johann Gärner Hüte Wien although they also sourced hats. Gärner Hüte Wien goes back to the late 19th Century. There were two brothers, Georg and Johann, associated with Gärner Hüte Wien and their small factory was located at Fröbelgasse 10, Wien. I come across Gärner Hüte Wien hats often but all in very small sizes. Here is an old Georg Gärner, Gärner Wien Wool Stiff Felt I found in 2013.

Very nice. I’ve never seen a back bow quite like that one before.

That is a very interesting hat. It looks very much a modern with it's pork pie vibe and double stitched brim. Fashion always comes back around, does it not!

Gary, Thanks! It looks like a side Bow design moved to the back. :)
For those who know of Kevin Todd Gerber, he is working on designing one of his KTG hats with a back bow and has asked for input. I sent him this photo and I think this has been his favorite yet. Would be kind of a neat idea to see if someone could sell a modern hat with a back bow, no?

It is such a clean look. Gives the illusion of a complete loop with no seam. A beautiful hat Steve.

It has been enjoyable to watch Kevin, not only land on his feet post JJ’s but reinvent himself… create his own brand… and thrive. And establish one of the more popular FB hat groups in the process.

Jeff, Thank you! That is fantastic that KTG Hats is a designing a Back Bow model. The Back Bow was popular in Germany and Austria going back to the early 1900s. Here is an early one.

"Gloria" Backbow, Wool Soft Felt, No Company Mark, possibly late 1920s. This Soft Felt came with a crease clip.

Don't know him but watched his U tubes. His last one showed he knows more than I thought about fitting hats. He had some great advice. I picture him somewhere in LIC Long Island City, Queens with those guitars of his.
Cool he's making his way up into the Haberdashery of the world.

Another one I jumped on right away. No bargaining and no asking about the size, from a French seller who never wore it, it seems.
The Sovereign Stetson Twenty Texan in silverbelly. Turned out to be a size 57 with the the raw edge brim at 7cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Nice single ply ribbon. Weighs 151 grams. Great hand to the slightly more stiff felt (as expected for a more western leaning style). Apparently the block number 123 was the ******* block (according to this link: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/stetson-block-profile-numbers.62324/post-1867726), but this is anything but a ******* (well, a Texan ******* perhaps?). Not a Stetson label but a generic one.

Dobesch Wien "Standard", with "Dobesch Conformatic", 57 cm, possibly 1960s. This is a very well made later Homburg Hat. The Light Gray Felt has a fine hand and is pliable. The Black Sweatband has a special finish and is of high quality. This Homburg Hat was custom made for the well known Josef Pichler & Söhne Graz.

That's a nice find, Steve.

Other than the hat itself and the ribbon and bow treatment, I particularly like the liner font and graphic.
