Borsalino Nutria, no label in it, so don't know the age. It's dirty underneath the brim, so i have to clean that. Size 5 1/2 = 58, but according to the seller it was a 59, i always wondering what's with the sizes?? Not my best Borsalino, but the felt is soft and it's very lightweighted.

That's going to take some work. Nice find, though.

With Stingymas fast approaching, I wanted to share a special hat (that looks nothing special) that I won't be wearing (too big). When I was young, my father came to own several hats that belonged to a Rabbi with whom he was very close as a young man himself. I remember him wearing these various hats to services and for years, as an adult, wondered what had happened to them. This weekend, my father finally brought those he could find and included this one, a Knox that was originally from the men's clothing store around the corner from our house. I remember it fondly.

A package arrived this afternoon. It was unexpected, as it's a holiday in Italy.
It was thrown into my garden while we were out for a walk, but the package was sturdy and beautifully packaged, and it withstood the impact well. It was a great pleasure to see the hats and the magnificent work of Fleur - Penumbra Hats.
My sincere compliments to her. I've been lost in admiring them and trying to remember where they came from and where I bought and/or exchanged them. Some are truly magnificent, let's say the ones in my size (59-60 cm.)
The others, small size will go in a box (not pictured) That said, you will see them, one by one, in the next days

Rediscovery is the best part of having a vast collection
Not always, Jeff. The number of hats is too many, and some I haven't worn in years.
That's why I've worked diligently to sell the ones that have been sitting in boxes for too long and those that are different sizes than mine.
The chance to become excited all over again.
Having fun choosing and hoping I've played the right cards are my current satisfactions. I've long since stopped caring too much about what I buy, especially if they're lots or leftovers. That's often where I find the greatest satisfaction, but that's too long story to tell :)

Another of the hats I just received from my father is the one he wore one time, 33 1/2 years ago, at my wedding. In certain Orthodox Jewish circles, the custom is for the groom and his party to wear our black hats (many times, even if it is not a personal custom) at least during the ceremony. My father did own and wear hats, but not the traditional black, as I and my brothers did. He bought and wore the same one I had. I no longer have my wedding hat, but this one was it, just 2 sizes larger. Note the shark's gill ribbon treatment. Unfortunately, it's really out of style on traditional black hats for us now.

I like that! The gill ribbon is alright if you **** it back on your head and maybe throw on some jeans and a simple shirt, I think it would be cool

Very nice, Jeff. Sharkgill bows never go out of style, do they?

Six days a week, I wear them as much as I can, but in our community, when we gather for services on the Sabbath, it's very, very rare. Then again, so are my homburgs and lords hat and that doesn't stop me, so I'm sure they will make a few appearances. Things were much easier in the 80's and 90's when there were fewer of us (post WWII).

I can confidently say I still felt the urge to sit down after the first two (Sools) came out of the bag, then the collector's frenzy took over. When I sat down, I tried to remember where the hats came from, and you bear a good share of responsibility for this bonanza :)
The hat, Sooros, mentions is a gem, perhaps made in Rome for Purli, the retailer.
Tomorrow I'll take a more leisurely look.
I must, or we must, thank Fleur for her commendable work.
Fantastic hat, Daniele. Barbisio deserves more recognition for their hats.
It's been my firm opinion for years, even if they are becoming scarcer now than a few years ago...however
