Looks authentic to me as well.

He sure is proud of that coat to put that price on it.

I wish it had a tag in it.
That particular seller has quite the collection of peacoats for sale. All very steeply priced. I'm guessing if at least one bites it pays for the lot. I noticed she has many WW2 coats in quite poor shape listed for 500 or more.

Other items are overpriced as well. She had one 1980s sweatshirt for $780 and another one for $2300. Good luck.

She prices things high. It is a strategy. I might come in with a reasonable offer and see what happens. I sent her a message with some questions about the inside. Not many pics.

Each sailor has a personal locker that holds his uniforms, including his peacoat, if desired. There is also a storage room where sea bags and other bulky items are stored Often their peacoats are kept there as they are only worn when coming into port
I was thinking more about this. I received an almost new WWII coat that was in storage since the war according to the seller. Included with the sale were white spats and belt and an interesting kersey wool bag with the bottom hem not sewn. After your mention of sea bags and storage, I wonder if this bag was used to cover the coat while in storage. Or if this is an actual sea bag. It fits the jacket almost perfectly. The bag had two layers of kersey wool. Super heavy.

Just bought this vintage pea coat. These usually never fit me. One tiny pin hole in the back and a little of discoloration beneath the right pocket. Besides that it is very clean including the corduroy pockets. Looks like it was barley used. It fit and it also has the guys name in there and it happens to be Mensch which speaks to me since I'm Jewish.

I know nothing about these so I was hoping you fine gentlemen could tell me what I have. Particularly the year. All I know is this is a 10 button, but that's about it. Thanks in advance!
